I'm surprized that you dont see a tunnel for the drive shaft in the bed or something.

Neat...but it wouldn't be the first time someone's done this with a 5 series. My dad and I have this contraption...
Unfortunately, it doesn't look as nice as it once did...but it's nice to know that our E12 pickup has a younger brother out in the world. Hahahaha.

IIRC, the E39's have a very very small hump to begin with for the driveshaft. My guess is that they did the same thing they did with our truck and just bring the floor of the passenger area up flush with the trunk level.
