Is there any way to use the bluetooth system for media streaming? I have the nav unit if that makes a difference. I can't figure any way out and wanted to ask before I shelve the idea.

On our '10 3 w/tech package once you sync up an iphone (or similar device) you can stream audio through the bluetooth. What year is your 5?

You can if you get one of these:

Dude ours has navi. I can't.

Actually, are u sure its a problem? what year is it? Not sure how different the new models are, but my year (07 model), the nav unit was seperate from the stereo. The only "integration" afaik, is that the audio would be passed through the nav unit before the speakers (what they call "dual zone"), so that the nav unit could lower the volume and interrupt with voice prompts. Since these aftermarket units use the same wiring harness and simulate signals from the original factory unit, I dont see why it wouldnt work with a nav system...
And besides, these things sport their own GPS module and run a CE os, which means you'll probably have access to better and more up to date maps than Mazda offers on the factory option.
Just sayin. :)
