Blown Turbo?

I haven't taken it off. Long day, really just want to relax until I can tear into it a bit tomorrow or Saturday.

same problem here.. replacement it is the only way to go!!!

Knowing shaft play is a legitimate question to ask. There may be rebuild kits out there for the K04. I've rebuilt several Garrett turbos with such kits. If it's just the seals causing the smoke and if the journal bearings and shaft have not "wobbled" out and have too much clearance, a rebuild might be an option. It's not hard to do if you are at all handy with hand tools. The kits I used on Garrett turbos even came with "how to" videos.

The hard part is getting the turbo out and putting it back, which you have to do anyway if you're going to do the remove and replace yourself.

Can you get fresh seals from mazda?
If so, do the upgraded, (what is it now, "C") version seals fit the A version turbo?

I thought of that! I would only go so far, though. So if you're looking at it going into the motor... it still looks stock.
