Have a new 2025 CX-5 Carbon and the only area that needs changing in my opinion is the blind spot monitoring firing around 6MPH. When making a two lane left hand turn and in the right lane of the two, the blind side monitoring will fire when the turn signal is set for a left turn and cars are in the left lane turning also. This happens around 6MPH and is to low in my opinion. Wife has a CRV and the blind spot monitoring does not fire in the same situation. This will happen on a two lane right turn also when in the left lane of the turn. Lately I have just been not turning on my turn signal in this situation.

My 2016.5 GT does that, but I'm not always close enough for it to chirp at me then. As it only does it for a second or so, I ignore it in those situations. It does make me look. You never know ... a pedestrian could be attempting to squeeze in there, a cyclist might have done some nutty maneuver, or the car in the next lane might be doing something I need to be aware of. Nice to be warned, even if it's 98% false alarm in that double-lane situation.

I didn't realize that the BSM chime didn't go off below 6 mph. I guess I haven' been that observant. I thought it went off all the time. I switched the chime off since I'm used to only the flashing mirror light from my previous vehicle. Another reason I've turned it off is that I've also noted that it still goes off when passing someone and then returning to the lane even when it's safe to do so. Apparently Mazda feels I should have more distance before returning. My Camry didn't require so much distance. I don't like to be startled during normal driving.

You'll probably find that your state's traffic code would dispute that. In Virginia it's a reckless driving charge to not use a turn signal even in a dedicated turn lane. Get a ticket? Probably not as I've seen law enforcement not use turn signals in dedicated turn lanes all the time.

Never heard of any law on that here in NE. But sitting there with the signals on is pointless. Everyone in the lane is turning. That's what the lane is for. You are not displaying any information that is new or unknown.
Changing lanes is a different story. I always signal and give a lot of time for cars to absorb that information before I change lanes.

Do you have to have your turn signal on in a turn only lane?
National law requires all automotive vehicles to have operational turn signal devices installed and that drivers use those signals to indicate any lane change or turn. And yes, that goes for turns performed in designated turning lanes, too. Rule of thumb: If you change lanes or turn, use your indicator!

I will try to elaborate more.
It is pointless sitting in a line of cars at a stop light, all in the turn lane, with signals on. It's pretty clear to everyone that you are all turning, and the cars in the other lanes are going to go straight through the light when it turns green. And here we have green turn arrows, which keep other lanes stopped while the turn lane has a chance to empty. I rarely keep my signals on here. There is no one to signal to if only one lane of cars is allowed to go.
It's a very different scenario when the light is already green and traffic is moving, or there is no light, and you are entering the intersection with traffic coming from the other direction. There, the signal stays on because I am conveying information as to my intent.

Hahaha I agree with your point. I don't know what every state laws says but I'm pretty sure it says put your signal on. Like you, when I'm in a dedicated turn lane with everyone else and our only option is to turn i dont worry about it, and have done this with cop car in front of me.
Though, there is another group of drivers who do apparently need assistance in being aware someone's turning: those on the opposite side of the street waiting to turn right themselves, who not infrequently turn right into that lane of turning vehicles. Notifying those behind seems pointless, sure, but doing whatever can be done to notify those across the street that yes the turning cars are turning ...
In my area, there are a handful of busy intersections with very long lights, where drivers on the opposite side of the street often get impatient and jet right out into the turning lane of traffic. One intersection has a double turn lane; I'm usually in the right-hand lane of the pair; and probably one in four times I use that lane there's a fool or two who (as we pass the opposite side of the street and its waiting drivers) who jets out into traffic as we're turning. The highway on-ramp is right there, so they try to squeeze in. Many simply disregard the turning cars. In these instances, anything that can be done to additionally warn such idiots turning is in progress (which is already obvious, of course) ain't a bad thing.
I normally don't use a signal in these dual turning lanes. But in a choice few, where other drivers appear frequently and often disregard, I'll use it as one more warning indication for them. Sometimes, even that doesn't help get it through their heads.
I just turn off the audio alert.
My '22 Integra audio is also turned off but it doesn't actually activate until >40mph. So driving locally, BSM is off almost all the time - since NYC has a 25mph limit.
