9k miles, hit a newly formed toledo pothole after the snow and bam, broke a belt in the tire and has been blown. Is there any warrantee with these tires at all?

Nada. Since it's less than 12K, you might be able to whine it to the dealer but don't bet on it.

i saw in the manual that tire warr. belong to tire manuf which is goodyear, sheesh these things are 229 bucks a piece.

the dealer should definitly replece them under warranty, either their or goodyears......i don't know how old u r, but if u r under 30, they won't do crap for free

they should be covered

Mazda includes the tires in thier factory warranty!!! I used to sell Mazda's so I know. If you look at your owners manual you should have a foldout inclosed that specifies the tires and their warranty. On the protege that literature said that they are a wear item, BUT Mazda pays for a portion of the cost. (it all depends on the tread left on the tires) if it has 50% legal tread left it should be covered for 50% of the cost. IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE ANY OF YOU KNEW THAT!!! Your saleperson should have explained that to you before you brought the car home, as it was required at my dealership and is required at most of them. Unfortunately most people don't pay attention as they are excited about bringing a new car home (and freaking out that they just bought a new car AND HAVE TO PAY FOR IT).

So I hope you still have the tire?... If not, talk to your dealership and see what they say. I still have my tire warranty foldout in my car if you need me to go out and quote from it.

ive got the booklet, the guy did explain some crap when i bought it, i justed wanted the keys so i could get the hell outa there. I cant remember a word, he made me go visit the service dept etc. Yes I still have the tire, its connected to a wheel thats connected to a mazda3. :-) Luckily i have a 2000 focus zx3 as my beater car that has sat out in the street since i sold my mustang and bought the mazda.

Should I call their free roadside assistance and get the sob tow'd to mazda or be nice and take off the wheel?

call mazda roadside

ask them what you should do, and don't do any more work than you have to.

and it's funny that you didn't listen to your sales guy. Every car I ever sold was like "gimee the keys and shut up already" :)

I bet this is the dirtiest wheel and tire on a mazda3 youve seen. Even flat, those low profiles dont always look it, you sure can feel it though, you can push in on tire on almost push it off the rim.

Big clue here:

Tire warranties cover treadwear and manufacturers defects.

Tire warranties DO NOT cover damage from pot holes.

Road Hazard protection covers damage from pot holes.
I don't know of any vehicles that come with factory Road Hazard protection.

If you can get the dealer to play ball, you MIGHT be able to get them to do something for you but they are not legally required to.

Good luck.

i sell a lot of tires and have never heard of one being warrantied because a pothole broke a belt. If the side split or they wore extremely quick you might be able to get them to replace it. With a bulge on the side, its unlikely that they will do anything for you. But it never hurts to ask so keep on them for a while and if they wont repair it, ask if theyve done any of the factory wheel upgrades to any cars and might still have one of the old tires around.

holy curb rash batman???

Is that curb rash I see on your tire??? and was it caused by the flat tire??? If so I'd be PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (unless you drove for a mile down the road with the flat) a flat tire should NOT do that kind of damage.

please let me know if that is curb rash & if it was there before the flat.

also, what the hell is a tire waranty good for if it doesn't cover this? What would a tire waranty cover if this is not covered??? (a pot hole? its not like he took the car rally racing, this is normal driving and the tire failed)

Tire warranties are a joke. No matter what happens to the tire, warranty can be denied by the tire dealer. If if you find a good high volume tire dealer they are more likely to actually on a warranty claim, if you find a reputable dealership that believes in customer service, they should also take care of you.

See my previous post. Tire warranties cover treadwear and manufacturers defects.

Does your new car warranty cover damage caused if you run into a light pole? Nope. Your insurance does. Same issue.

And like KYMP5 said, most of the time you can't even get them to cover what they're supposed to. That's why you buy Road Hazard coverage when you buy new tires. Tire goes flat, they fix it. Tire goes bad for any reason, they replace it. No questions asked. It's insurance for your tires.

it's a POTHOLE while normal driving, not a LIGHTPOLE!!! I bet it will be covered (how much you wanna bet $???:) We'll have to wait and see what the dealer says... (boom08) the suspense!

potholes can be avoided, at least thats what a dealer can say. I hope they take care of it, but from being in the tire industry i have seen claims like that get turned down hundreds of times. Like i said, it never hurts to try, i have a know in the front right tire of my RX-8 and they wont warranty it. Ive been there, it sucks.

(shrug) Believe what you want.

Sorry Guys, I am SOL.
Talked to Mazda, and any road hazards are not covered. Called Goodyear and they have NO warrantee on OEM tires. Yippie. Cheapest I found is walmart for 169.

Guess I should have bet you, eh? (wiggle)

Did you try any of the warehouse clubs? I hear they have cheap tires but I don't know what brands they carry.
