Black roof molding

The black roof molding on the passenger side of the roof on my Cx9 is loose and almost about to fall down. I'm going to take a look at it in the morning but wanted to know if anyone on the forum had to go through this. How can I attach it back to the roof? Are there any screws?

Appreciate your response.

Thanks

First I have seen on this forum of any drip moulding issues. Drip mouldings are attached via a series of clips. Some vehicles have several different sizes of clips on one roof moulding, and they are not all interchangeable. Not sure why your roof moulding would come off unless something hit it or you have had your vehicle repaired in the past and a shop has removed the moulding and put it back on (re-installed it). If it was re-installed at one point, this is likely the problem. Alot of those clips are non-reuseable, so when they are re-used, the moulding will come off.

I believe he is talking about the roof rail and not a molding.
Yes there are screws underneath the plastic end cap. One is in the front of the rail and one in the rear. The caps will slide off with a little pressure. Slide it off and you will see the screw.View attachment Roof_Rails_CX9.pdf

Yes, my Cx9 sustained hail damage last year and I had that repaired through my insurance. Based on your response, I believe the repair shop reused the clips. Should I take it back to the body shop or dealer or contact my insurance as the repairs were carried out at insurance referred facility? If I have to do it myself, can it be done easily?

Thanks for your response.

I would contact your insurance company, let them know of the issue. Then take it over to the body shop to have them take a look and ask them what the issue is. Likely either new clips need to be purchased, or the whole moulding needs to be replaced (will come with all the clips if you can't get them seperately). You need to make sure you insurance co. is aware so that the body shop does not try to pull a fast one. Don't let the body shop try to glue it back on, ask them exactly what the problem is. From what you said, this deffinately sounds like an issue directly related to that repair.
