black msp with 8000k hids

Thats a good question, why would those be illegal? Also how is it exactly the HIDs work. I never really understood because I never saw an explanation on them.

Any of you who want these better getthem soon because they will be illegal to sell after sept.

The cut off on those look really good. If I didn't know better I would have thought those were ECE projectors. I didn't think they would cut so well

i've seen pics of hids where the cut off at the top was a straight line. are mine as straight as they're gonna be? i'm assuming that since our cars weren't originally made for HIDS that it's the reason why it has this weird slantlike thing in the middle. although i didn't really take the time to try popping the bulbs out and back in to make sure they were secure. i'm pretty sure they're secure since brent (turboboostmazda) did it but i'd like to know why my cut off isn't straight or if it's supposed to be like that.

There's a thread around here somewhere that details why they'll be illegal.

As far as HID lamp operation, it uses a small electrical arc (discharge) within a quartz envelope (arc tube) instead of a filiment. Within the arc tube are several inert gases such as xenon in combination with a small drop of mercury and halide salts. When the arc strikes, these gases then heat and ionize to more or less glow. In traditional filiment style lamps, a tungsten filiament heats a halogen gas within the lamp to produce an abuntant amount of light.

HID lamps need control equipment (ballast) to maintain the amount of current (not necessarily voltage) that is to be supplied to the lamp, hence the presence of that little box that is supplied with them.

FYI, the HID lighting system found in headlamps is identical technology to that of street lighting, sports field lighting, and the like.

very nice ... although 8000k is too blue in my opinion. a 6000k is good enough. what brand are they?

8000k lights should be purple shouldn't they? Is the bulb glass tinted at all? What kit is that. Well to be purple they mix krypton and xenon gas, so these may be 8000k real deal. Regardless they look good.

If you want purple, you would want a different type of gas in the bulb. Catz 6000k hid kit "purple color" has on the market that I know of. Some cheap kits" no name" have tinted bulb that are blue, or purple... So, becareful what you buy out there!

from what ive read on quite a few forums is not technically that HIDs will be illegal but that it will be illegal to sell conversion kits cause they r supposedly causing to many complaints cause of glare and such when people put them in their nonHID OEM equipped cars. thats about the basic gist of it. but i still wanna get them ASAP in case this does happen.

What would be the best HID kit to buy for the money, I am sure they are probably all pretty close, but does anyone have any favs and for what reasons.

This is completely off topic, but is your Miata the same one that was featured in the June 2002 issue of Import Racer. If so, how much are you selling that thing for? I've been drooling over it for over a year now.

Yes APEXistud, my car was in the issue of Import Racer back in June 2002... WOW, someone actually know... :D Make me a good offer...
