Big power steering leak

So first the belt was slipping, I had to drive one night in the rain when it was slipping really bad and that's likely when the leak started as the PS was cutting out. I've replaced and tightened the belt, slip is gone, and topped up the fluid but now it has a big leak. At first I thought it might be coming from the cooler (around the radiator), but now it looks like it might be coming from the rack too.

Here is what it looks like after being parked for 30 mins after a 10 minute drive.

Any ideas, is this something I could change in the driveway, or am I going to have to take it to the shop.

Cheers

Why not looking to see what is covered in fluid? You can't go by where it drips on the ground

check the lines connected to the steering rack itself, probably leaking from there, or you magically somehow crimped a steel line and cracked/broke it

It's the steel cooler line that loops in front of the radiator. I'm not sure exactly what it's called, I just called a dealership but the main parts guy was out and the other guy didn't really have a clue what it was, he just listed off a bunch of part numbers and their prices, he had 4 different ones.

Does anyone know the exact name of that part?

Thanks

I assume you are talking about this thing with the arrow on it. I believe that is the power steering coolant line. I don't have the parts catalog, if someone can spare it or something. Also I have the service manual if you need it.

Yes that's the line, but I'm not finding anything on google searching P5 power steering coolant/cooling line.

I had the same problem recently. I dried everything off several times only to conclude that the pump was leaking from the pulley shaft seal.I called a local junkyard and picked up a used pump for $35, installed it and no more leaking. I was going to order a seal kit from RockAuto but decided to try the used one instead.

My theory is that PS belt was tightened too tight, putting excessive lateral strain on the shaft which deformed the seal. I have only myself to blame. DOH!
