Big Install Coming Up!!!!!

What's up peeps. let me start off by introducing myself. I'm from Hawaii. You all can call me Shane. I've been in and out of this forum for the past three years as that is around the time I picked up my 2003.5 yellow MSP. The car has been nothing but problems for me, but lets not get into that. I've been working on building motors for about 8 years now. My last build was my SRT4 and i'm still upgrading the motor on that till this day. The Mod bug never goes away. haha. But i've decided to start on the MSP to see where i can get it and just to get it driving good.

Well i will start by saying that my radiator took a crap and due to the overheating the head gasket crapped out to. so that's where my build will start. This will be the third radiator i will install. the first was due to a stuck thermostat and the second one the fan blade rubbed the radiator and sliced a big hole in it. oh and not to mention that before the head gasket went out my passenger side CV joint broke. lucky me.

well sorry for the long intro. it will never happen again. now onto the car.

Big thanks to Ken at Protege Garage. Great customer service with there. couldn't ask for more.

The project will begin sometime mid november. This is just the beginning of a long project. I will go forged in the future when i decide to change the turbo. I just want to see what i can get out of this tiny stocker.

well let me know what you guys think. and for the flamers out there, flame on. i take all criticism whether it's constructive or not.

I will update once started

nice start man. do remember to forge that motor before turning the boost up a bit or you will be in the zoom zoom boom club like a lot of us are. glw build.

thanks for the replies everyone. I will keep you all posted on the install when i get back home in november. I'll post my experiences and pics from beginning to end. i have month to finish everything. it aint a hard install for me. i just like to take my time and do it right the first time. I plan on running about 9-10 PSI for a little bit with this setup and see how the car reacts to that amount of boost. I will not go higher until i go forged. It just sucks seeing such little boost when i'm used to seeing 25PSI on my SRT4, but hey they're 2 totally different motors.

With all that money you just spent, you're still going to see less than 12psi. Is it worth it ? Do yourself a favor too, don't throw all that stuff on in one shot, because if you have issues after the build, you'll wonder which part out of the thirty you installed is causing the problem. Good luck. One question though, why not spend that money on a platform that can actually take some power,...like your SRT-4 ?

that's why i said i'll be running 9-10PSI. The build will also take a whole month so i can take my time on it so i won't have to worry about where the problem is coming from. everything in the motor will be inspected before anything get installed. I already know the SRT4 can handle alot of power. The SRT4 is not on hold. I am still upgrading that as well. there are new parts going into the SRT4 when the MSP is done. Besides it's nice to build something different other then a SRT4 torque monster, and i can't drive the SRT4 everyday. The MSP is my DD at the moment and i want to get a little more out of it. Thanks for the input though.

right on. I guess i'm just becoming very weary of the MSP downfalls. Def the last Ford I buy.... Good luck with everything.

it's yellow right now, but i i like white. i was going with black on the hood, roof and trunk and maybe the "A" frames. The bottom half will be white and i will spray a blue pearl over the whole car.... that's my first option

the other would be to make the bottom half a candy blue with a while pearl.

i'm leaning toward the white though.

i'm also taking any opinions on color. so feel free to give me some input.

white is a good color! ive thought about painting my car the white pearl lexus has(with the yellow tint) i think that color is beautiful!

what up guys. I have been home for a couple weeks now and the motor is out of the car and taken apart. i am about to rebuild it. found out that my passenger wheel bearing was going bad so i got both replaced. i am taking pics and i will be posting them probably when the motor goes back in. i will keep you all updated as much as i can. tomorrow i will be putting the motor back together and installingg all of the electronic components that i have.

ps. kinda hard to work on the car when i do this(friday). all day. haha.

The nology wires aren't worth it. Just my opinion. Btw where in Hawaii are you. I'm in the 96744 area

good luck, im glad you had a good experience with ken, i havent had any luck either time i tried dealing with him. i wish he wasnt so hard to get a hold of. i had to spend 2k in parts from SU. i like dealing with them, mike is awesome. ken is good too, just too busy. anyways, not ranting anyone who stocks msp parts is good in my book. good luck and keep us posted!
