Big Difference Between A 16' and 17'?

17" looks better IMO, but for those who don't like the "big wheel" look.. 16" is perfect

I'm sticking with 16" only because of the ride comfort. With 17"s you need lower profile tires and that yeild a harsh ride for every day driving (depending upon the roads). With the right drop and tire size, both 16"s and 17"s can look good.

Also, tires for 16" wheels are a bit cheaper than 17" because the tires(17") need a stiffer sidewall.

When you go larger, the wheel well will appear to look larger, so might need a drop as well.

you will need to drop your car with 17's to make it look good.

here is my car with 16 konigs on it and it is getting dropped in two weeks.

17's would look worse.....

IMO, 16s are the better way to go. Especially if you drive it in the winter. 17" Winter Tires put a heavy hole in your pocket. 16s are much cheaper, and with a couple inches of drop, they look really nice.

I went from the stock Dunlop 16's.. to MSP stock 17's.. i notice a difference in the handling of the car because of the speed rating of the tires.

I went from the stock 16s w/stock Dunlops to 17s with very low profile tires (205/40 I believe) and overall, the diameter (wheel+tire) is about the same. Meaning, yes, the wheel looks bigger, but the wheel gap is the same. I personally like the look of lower profile tires, but that's just my opinon. The good thing is, my speedo isn't off very much....I don't think it's even one mile an hour off.

I should be getting my new 17's tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out which I like better. The tires will be the same as what was on my 16's - 205/40 - so it should make it easier for comparison on looks, ride, etc.

Well, baby got her new shoes last week, and all I can say is I LOVE THEM!!!!!!! I love the look of them, and they definitely 'fit' the wheel well better, but one thing I was not expecting is how much better the handling is. My stock rims had the same profile tires - 205/40 - and were the same brand (Falken 512's) as the new ones, but I can honestly say that the handling is noticeably better, and she corners like a dream.
