I've read some stuff on this board about a May 19 boycott of gas or something. Of course that will not work. But I heard an idea that seemed to somewhat valid. None of us will go without gas, so that is not an option. But what if everyone boycotted a one large oil company, like Exonn-Mobil. There sales would plummet, forcing them to lower prices to draw consumers, this would force other companies to follow suit. A large oil company is not likely to keep prices artificially high no matter what agreements they have made if they are being nationally boycotted. The boycott could arbitrarily target any large oil company, so none would be safe even if they all decided to keep their prices in the same range. Consumers control the market, not sellers.
