Best Winter Snow Tire?

Any advice on winter tires? I'm leaning toward the Bridgestone Blizzak or the Michelin Arctic Alpin. I live in New England so they will be used on ice / packed snow / loose snow.

Blizzaks are good. Expensive.
Blizzak WS-50 has LOTS of grip, but only the first 55% of the tread is snow tire, the rest is all season tire. A bit "squirmy" too.
The Blizzak LM-22 is more of a "high performance" winter tire.

I got me Toyo OBSERVE G-02 plus Winter Tires...

Handle pretty well, but loud, and under hard accel, you can feel the tires..

They are up there with the Blizzaks, as they have wallnut shells in the compound.

They are on 14's (185/65/14) so the ride is also soft..

I missed the first snow fall to try them out (car is in shop) so I will know on thursday/friday when it snows again..

I've got the Observe's as well, but not on. I'd say the Observe or the Nokian Hakk Q's/1's, depending on if studdies are legal in your state.

Nokian tires are held in pretty high regard for snow. Or you could try some Yokohama rally tires

Pea> you've got 14's on your P5? I was going over it with a tire shop guy just yesterday and we found a suspension linkage on the front wheels that looked like it would rub on anything smaller than a 15.

Using some brand spanking new Pirelli 210 Snowsports. 195/55/15.

Haven't tried them in the snow or ice yet, but in the dry and in the rain.......

best in ice and deep snow..

yokohama has a new tire called the iceguard...

they are very well priced and amazing in the ice...

i would say they are as good if not better than the blizzacs...

I have the Michelin Artic Alpine snows on my MSP. Very nice and quite, and handle fairly well on wet and dry pavment. haven't encountered snow yet, but hear good things about them. They are a high performance snow. $180 cdn a piece.

Not a problem..

If you look @ the manual, it even mention's 14's in there for tire sizes..

The service manager @ my dealership even liked em..

no rubbing or anything..

Nokian Hakkapelitta are the best all-around snow tires. They have a pretty stiff sidewall, so they are not as "squirmy" as a lot of other snow tires. They are especially good in deeper snow. They are studdable, and wear MUCH better than softer snow tires.

Blizzaks are good, but the handling on dry pavement sucks. They are fantastic on ice because of the soft rubber compound. Yes, only the first 50% is snow tire, but a lot of snow tires are like that (e.g. Dunlop Graspics).

I drove 4 seasons on my Hakkas (in Massachusetts) and they STILL had tons of tread left.
