Best upgrade?

best bang for buck is CAI. Are you talking flywheel HP or wheel hp?

CAI and cat back will get you almost 300 flywheel and over 300ftlbs.

cat backs don't make power on this car. I thought this was common knowledge.

There is no common knowledge on this forum, or any other forum for that matter. Cat backs not making any power is popular opinion.

Mazda published that the Mazdaspeed CAI and CBE yielded 30hp and 30trq. Is that true? That's hard to say. Did I notice a difference with my cat back exhaust? yes.

I already have the CAI... i realy want 300 HP and 300 torque (Just Incase a 08 BMW xi, 08 G35 or gay GT pony needs some reasurance) What would help me get to my goal without spending so much money or voiding my warranty?

The Mazda CAI and exhaust are the only things that wont void your warranty. As far as getting to your goal, intake is a must. If you like your car quiet-ish, stealth-back. If you like it loud, add an exhaust. Make sure you upgrade the bpv so you don't leak boost and also upgrade the motor mount so all that power gets to the ground the way it's supposed to. Maybe one step colder spark plugs too. I recommend gauges or a dashhawk to make sure it all stays in top shape. After all that, if you need to go faster, upgrade the intercooler or go with a front mount, and a new turbo manifold.

You can always step up to meth injection though.....(spank)

@ lestat13

^^ hehe, that kinda defeats the purpose of his question...lol but good answer! =)

I have the CAI and The Su motor Mount already. If i get the exhaust i mean the catback exhaust what gains would i see? and what is a "bpv"? is catback exhaust the only kind i could get without voiding my warranty?

bpv = bypass valve....most people say the stock is leaky so replacin it with another bpv/bov(recirc) will eliminate that leakiness...forge is the most popular id say but it has the "ping" sound like 2 swords clashing....also look into a test pipe thatll give you great gains for the sub 200 price and easy swap for dealer visits unfortunately they are all on backorder except the SLS from Protege garage...exhaust maybe with the test pipe youll see a better gain but the best gains would be a DP but again that will be a b**** install and void ur warranty...hope that helps

I agree with the CAI option = the best bang for the buck.

BTW will dealerships give me a hard time if I upgrade my BPV to the Forge brand?

they will give u a hard time if u get a aftermarket bov/bpv regardless....

ehhh they are easy to take off / put on anyways

get the bolt ons, TMIC/FMIC, test pipe, CAI ( u already have ) motor mount and u should be close to 300, anything after that u get serious and start swapping dp's and turning boost up etc.

A bit surprising that you drive a Speed3 (a boosted car) yet you have no idea what a blow-off valve is. Maybe you should read up on the 'how-things-work" article regarding turbos and hell, if you're that indecisive on whether or not an exhaust will give you gains maybe you should read up on how naturally aspirated motors work as well. It's always easy to shell out cash for parts, but it makes the experience THAT much better when you install something and you know exactly what it will be altering under your hood to give you those extra gains.
