In my opinion, married bass and mids/highs on small speakers is what loses quality. If you get yourself a nice deck with a high pass filter, you can filter out the bass from your other speakers and save them for mids and highs. It all depends on what sound you want. It's hard to get the perfect mix without spending tons of money. I am a bass freak so that's all I can help you with..;P
If you want clean bass, focus on sub/amp. If you plan on getting a new sub/amp remember wiring is important. You can find decent amps for good prices that are two ohm stable, and wire a DVC sub parallel to two ohms and have more bass than you'd even know what to do with!

Some 4 gauge kicker wire, and this thing could bump something fierce. The only problem is that it won't work with the stock sub. Let's face it, our stock 8 ohm sub is not going to handle anything more than what the stock amp gives it.. But when you buy bass, you get what you pay for, just depends on how much you want to spend.
