But seriously, I installed an AEM Short Ram intake and Sparko ignition wires on the 5 this week And I got to say IT ROCKS(rockon)!!! I don't know about Dynos and whp and all that crap but I do know I can feel it in the responsiveness and just the whole "pep" of the thing (2thumbs). Plus now there's a nice little roar when I step on the gas. This was exactly the thing she needed and I recommend it to anyone with $200 to spare. (OK, $215 and the fact that i'll pay maybe 10 bucks or so in interest since I didn't put that cash towords the principal of my loan like I should have, hopefully I will save that with better gas mileage, only time will tell.)

thats rad man, glad you like it. out of curiosity, do you have a 5-speed or an automatic? if you have a 5 speed, would this mod have the same type of effect on an automatic?

Yes I have an auto, actually the sport-matic. I had read on these forums how people had problems with the fit on the AEM for autos. I personally had no such problems. Every thing fit perfectly.

i have an auto as well... i have the sparko and intake.... throttle response ti greatly improved, and ignition wire smotheed out eh motor a tad..... for any future mods, just realize that the auto just shifts for you, and the 5 speed you have to shift... other than that, most mods will be the same for either car.

Is that the same for things tlike the flywheel. I think an aluminum flywheel is something on my future list.

Automatics do not use a flywheel.

Automatics will not use the same LSD, either.

The AEM short ram intake actually has a different fitment for automatic vs. manual (automatic 2.0L is the same as the 1.8L, I think).

The front strut tower bar actually has two fitments for cruise control vs. no cruise control from somebody. It might have been the OEM one from Mazda. I can't remember for sure.
