Benefits of Grounding Kits

What are the REAL benefits of a grounding kit. Will you really gain a little horsepower by getting a little more negative power? And if so, what is a good kit and how easy is the install?

They're about as helpfull as popping placebos. The gains are marginal at best.

Upgrading the ground wire between your battery and chassis is all that is really necessary and perhaps the wire between your alternator and positive battery post...but only if you plan on running high power components.

So no high power components = grounding kit is not necessary?
But you do recommend upgrading the groud wire from the battery to chassis?

If you aren't touching any of the electronics in your car it doesn't matter. I added a 4ga power wire for my amplifier so I complimented it with a 4ga ground wire.

from what i've seen and experienced with my friend's car, it helps out your electrical system. his car drives a lot smoother than before he did not have grounding wires.

That's what I was wondering. Because I know that my MSP drops significant RPMs when the radiator fan kicks on or I turn the heater on or something like that and my audio system is stock as well as everything else.

More feedback please! Especially from MSP owners.

yeah i'd like to find out more please. i know for sure i'm getting either a yellow top or a red top optima and for most people that took care of the light dimming due to bass kicking in, and the lights dimming from using the windows, but some had to add grounding as well

Every engine is gonna do that and it has absolutely nothing to do with the ground wires. When there is a sudden change in current draw from your system or you turn on the A/C compressor the engine is going to get a sudden change in friction from the accessory belt. It will dip for a second until the ecu picks up the slack and readjusts the throttle to keep the car at idle. The voltage will dip as a result of this in combination with the slight delay of the alternator's regulator adjusting to the new current.

The factory ground wires on a late model car can handle the current. If we were talking about rusty corroded wires on a 20 year old dinosaur it would be a different story.

The smooth engine feeling is your mind trying to convince you that you did something worthwhile. If the engine were truely running smoother with this mod you would be saying that Mazda put such cheap wires in the car that the spark plugs don't have enough juice to ignite the gas. Since your car runs...I hardly believe that is true. You would also see an amazing increase in overall gas mileage...something Mazda surely didn't overlook.

That's what I figured...
