Beep Codes

Hi,

I've just bought a Mazda 6 2.0D (121) 2004. Every so often whilst driving, the car beeps at me. The pattern usually seems to be 3 beeps, then a pause of 5-10 seconds, then 5 beeps. At one point, I did get a load of continuous beeps. I was quite low on fuel. I've been through the manual and there's only a few beep codes mentioned which only cover ignition and seat belts.

Does anyone know what these beeps represent, of where I can find them out?

What kind of beeps are they? More like chimes or literally beeps?
Is your audio unit turned on when you hear them? (try turning it off and see if the beeps persist)
