Beat down 92 Protege

Alright here's the deal. I don't know a whole bunch about cars, I'm not stupid or anything, I just know that I don't know alot. I got a 1992 Protege that hasn't had much maintence done to it. So far I have replaced all the filters, changed the oil and flushed out the system a couple times. Installed a new O2 sensor, fixed the exhaust which was broken in half, changed the manual transmission oil or whatever you call it, ran a couple bottle's of Seafoam through the fuel system, replaced the thermostat and radiator. I need to change the timing belt but I can't get the crankshaft bolt off because it just turns the pulley when I try to. So any ideas as to how I could get the bolt off so I can change the belt or anything other things I should do that I may have over looked?

Also I'm pretty sure I need a new muffler, how do you think a Cherrybomb would work?

use an impact gun.
if you dont have access to air tools, you can use a breaker bar and a long pipe. might have to hold the pully with a tool, or put the car in gear and hold the tires.

Gotta have someone else to hold down the brake and put the car in gear to hold the pulley in place I think.

Well I got someone to use an impact gun on it and finally got to change the belt. However the other day I cleaned off the engine and now me check battery light comes on and all my lights flicker. Any idea what the problem might be?

Is it a new battery and did you clean off your motor with water? Might just wanna check all connections on the battery and a few of the ground points.

Yeah, I used some citrus based engine degreaser and rinsed it off with water. The battery isn't new, it's actually quite old but I've had it checked and it's still in good condition. I think it might be the alternator, cause when I drive it with the air on, you can feel the blower getting stronger and then weaker in time with the flickering battery light.

Well if you ever spray down an engine you always need to put a bag over the intake and altinator. You may have ruined the alt with some water. Might as well get a new battery while your fixing the thing up.
