Beat a RSX

2003 MSP
Like it says I beat a RSX not an s-type though. he did have some mods I believe cause of his ricey stickers and big exhaust pipe...

I have held steady with most RSXs even Type-S but watch out for those damn GTIs. Had one guy take off on me like a rocket. A corvette would be hard pressed to catch him.

Hello - I can attest to the GTI's potential prowess...I had one, but it was totaled last July. They can be crazy fast, that's for sure - I just had bolt on's, chip, etc., and my '00 GTI 1.8T was fun indeed...

Of course, I'm lovin' the MSP now, so I'm better for it! :)

There was a Type-S at Summit Raceway back at the Hyper-R fest.
And that one was FAST!!!!
Very nicely done.
He was easily keeping up with a couple of Supra MKIV's, they were only barely able to pull on the straightway.

yea, chip, intake, exhaust make them go high13s to low 14s. Plus the other stuff they have available on the aftermarket is just unreal.

Indeed the thing was insane.
Didn't get a chance to look at the suspension work though.
But he would come in for about 10 secs then head out back on the track. Before that lap was up he would be right behind the Supras again.

Btw the Supras were Turbo, cause one wrecked mid track. His turbo spooled up in the middle of the corner and lost control. :(

mann. not to get bashed or anyhting but i had it narrowed down to a GTI 1.8t and a msp and obviously i got the latter of the two. i regret it sumtimes when i see VW's awesome interior but u gotta love the 4 doors and nice trunk space! oh well. grass is always greener on the other side...

yeah, gtis have nice interiors (I had a 2001 golf..same interior just crappy performance)..but I don't like the hatchback look. VW has good build quality.

You know, you would likely get sick of the blue instrument lights..I loved them for a while but it got old

my friend had a 2001 GTI with just a chip and a Porsche BOV and it dynoed at 200hp with 225 torque!!! My other friend who was there had a Teg Type R w/Jackson Supercharger and hey dynoed at 180hp with 130 torque.....the smack talking stopped there for sure.......I was debating on a GTI too at one point but the stock suspension REALLY blows........you gotta spend $1500 right off the bat to make that thing handle decent.

not to mention it's rear suspension setup is the same as that on the spec-v, eh?

ie, it's only "OK"

It's acctually quite diffrent...but similar...the Nissan Multi-link rear suspension keeps the advantages of having a non-independant suspension (ie less room, cheaper to make) but also gains some advantages that an independant suspension would have (obviously not to the fullest), but it still has all the flaws of a non-independant suspesion.

But that doesn't mean it can't handle, stock for stock, the Spec will hang with an Integra Type R in the twisties.

The Golf's GTi's suspension is diffrent...the suspension wasn't MENT to handle at all...it was tuned more for luxary than performance...

To make a GTi handle you'd need to replace most of the suspension...

But nothing beats adjustable coilovers whee :) now if I only had 3 grand to throw around I'd have JICs on my car.

You can definitley say that the GTI's suspension needs some work. I was following my friend to a car show one night who has a 2002 GTI 1.8T with chip and intake. When we went onto the on ramp to the highway I was all over his ass however when we got on the highway he took off like a rocket. As we get to the car show he tells me that he was giving it his all while on the on ramp, I told him I could have pushed it alot more. Now my frind is working on improving the suspension of the GTI and me still without a turbo.

Yep, my '00 (the one that was totaled, not my fault) had a 1.1 bar chip, intake, upper intercooler pipe, 2.5 exhaust, diverter valve, etc. - all bolt-ons, kept up easily with stock to mildy tuned WRX's on the bridges here at highway speeds...

I had bilsteins shocks, neuspeed springs, sways and strut bar and 18" pirelli rubber...it handled great...but the MSP still feels more connected...!

Thus my reasoning for liking the MSP so much out of the box - all the goodies (or at least enough to keep it fun for a while) for the same price as my GTI, without all the aftermarket stuff of course...

I'm happy with my Black Mica choice! :)
