i scoped out the park and i found a perfect spot for us to park and hang out.
the first picture shows some of the picnic tables which are about 25 feet from the bathrooms.
the second picture shows the rest of the picnic tables and the rest of the area we can utilize. just to the right, past the sand, is the beach.
the third pic shows the parking spaces right in front of the picnic area for us to park and take pics.
the last pic shows the huge paking lot. it doesnt look that big in the pic, but trust me, its HUGE....
DIRECTIONS:
from the south: I-94 north to US 41. you will be on 41 for a while. when you get to WADSWORTH RD., take a right. this will take you all the way to the beach. when you get to the SHERIDAN RD. (there is a mcdonalds on the corner to your right) continue straight and follow the main road past ALL of the parking lots until you cannot go straight any longer. at that point the pictures will be very familiar because the picnic area will be just to your right.
from the north: take I-94 south and exit onto US-41 towards waukegan. make a left at WADSWORTH RD. and follow it all the way to the beach. when you get to the SHERIDAN RD. (there is a mcdonalds on the corner to your right) continue straight and follow the main road past ALL of the parking lots until you cannot go straight any longer. at that point the pictures will be very familiar because the picnic area will be just to your right.
DO NOT SPEED. WADSWORTH RD. HAS ENFORCED SPEED LIMITS OF 30-45 MPH. IT IS VERY LIKELY YOU WILL BE TICKETED IF YOU SPEED.
i am curious as to how many people coming would actually like to meet up and drive to the beach together. i live right on the state line, so this would be ideal for WI residents whom arent sure where they are going. also, if any IL people would like to met aswell, please let me know. i know Ken expressed interest in meeting up and driving together. we will determine the meeting place once we see how many people are interested.
WI RESIDENTS: we could meet up somewhere around the state line and then drive to meet the IL folks before all driving to the beach. let me know if you are interested.
