i find it interestin that in a article in SCC about awd cars the audi quattro system is one of the worst....it may have been a beast back in the day.....

Do you know which SCC this was in? I'd like to read it. I'm curious as to why they called it "one of the worst". Not sure if you remember, but was it because of the amount of drivetrain power loss? I can believe that. It also depends on which version of quattro they are talking about, since they have gone through about 5 versions I think.

True enough that you lose power to the wheels with AWD. It's not the best thing in all situations. It adds weight to the car, drivetrain power loss, etc.

awd on wrx's whp = about msp whp. get the pic ppl? if you want to compare hp, wrx (awd) needs more whp than fwd cuz they lose more. how many times do i need to say that.

Also about awd, it sucks, too heavy for the turn in, if you want the most neutral get a rwd, cuz steering and power is separate from each other. the only thing awd is good at, is powering out of the turn, but your turn entry is slower than rwd. Fwd is a different story cuz you have to push the turn deep and take a hotter approach, for racing I take a mid engine rwd setup i.e. F1. neutral setting for perfectly tossing around.

very well explained. AWD sucks when entering a real tight turn.

AWD= 24-27% drive train loss. FWD/RWD = 14-17% drivetrain loss. WRX = ~167 WHP. mazdaspeed = ~145WHP subtract for weight. and i'd say the mazdaspeed is a decent contendor.

Ok, since no one said anything about this I am going to ask something. Do you honestly think that an MSP can hang with a WRX(not STi of course) on a highway run?

I'm not doubting, just wondering.

If the drivers are of equal caliber, I don't think the MSP could hang with the WRX.

try driving a s*** box around for 10 years then see how ya like the msp (likemylastcar)

AMEN preach it brother 93 Pontiac Grand GT here and man it SUCKED ASS!
MSP is like fine wine next to the Domestic crap that slides out of that assend known as Detroit.

Here here, Yash! There's only one thing to come out of detroit...the red wings! NO NOT EMINEM YOU WHITE_RAP ENTHUSIASTS!!!!

Also...I'd like to adress AutoX MSP's comment about us downing other cars.
1. Go sell your car and leave the community if you don't like it that much. You have a brain, and it can be used to make choices. No one is forcing you to stay here.

2. I tend to agree with you that *some* people can be closed minded here, but with people calling the MSP a joke, or a piece of crap, there is bound to be the other extreme defending it to the death...agressively I might add. You also have to consider that this board has had a great influx of n00bs since the MSP arrived, and some have very little etiquette when it comes to these things. They'll grow up...so be grown-up enough to let it slide, seen.

I kick my brother wrx ass in my msp one complet fender 1 2 3 4 gear before re flash with re flash my brother cry and dont want run with my MSP

att IRR

awd= sucks

Wrx feel how a ton of s***

Whoohooo! I <3 MSP. Yeah, you can't expect our cars to be EVO/STi eaters for $19-$20K. About investing all that cash to make it fast? Its still FWD. I dont know why people are even comparing the MSP to EVOs, WRX/STis. If anything we should be comapring it to the SVTs (no challenge) and SRT-4s. And we make up for the lack of HP with style, handeling and looks

dood, you are comparing apples and oranges. The WRX makes 167 whp, but ALL 4 wheels are pushing. There's a difference there you know?

well...the WRX runs 14.5s 1/4, stock according to Car and driver, right? So say someone can run a 14.2 if they're really good. A good MSP driver can run 14.9-15.1 (i ran 15.3). That's still pretty damn close, all things considered. And besides that, there is the price differential, the boost differential, and the turbo size differential. There's a whole slew of factors that make the WRX a cool car...but with out the benefits of a good, tight suspension like the MSPs, it doesn't make it worthwhile to me for MSRP. Even today the MSP - WRX price difference is about 3-5k$.

Blah...I'm babbling...but you get the point. The MSP is a great car, and about 1500$ properly thowrn into it makes it very formidible competition for a lot of cars out there.

The MSP is like a beautiful petite woman who can really f**k the WRX is like a fat squatty woman who can dead lift and walk on ice.
Now tell me who would you rather take home?
