Bass blockers on Polk dB351's

I searched the threads and saw many comments for and against, and many variables (stock vs. OEM headunit).
What is consensus for using or omitting the included capacitors when installing the Polk 3.5's in an otherwise stock setup (OEM headunit, no amps or crossovers)?

Use it or toss?

Thanks!

Use them if you don't have a bose system. Don't use them if you do have a bose system.

I've read that the Bose system filters the audio to the dash speakers. So it isn't necessary to add the bass blockers. I didn't add them on my install and the speakers work great, no problems

Thanks. Did you also replaced the center speaker? If so where do you find a retailer that sells only one?

Yes i replaced the center speaker with the polk, however the factory center dash bose speaker had a larger magnet on it compared to the dash side speakers. I bought 2 sets of the polks and now I have a spare unused one.

Why are these clowns controlling Mazda installing this crap in the first place. When you buy a new car why should you be pulling apart the dash or door panels?!!?!!!

It's not crap and most people are perfectly happy with them. But for the more audiophile among us the sound can be improved with a little work...

Agreed. It isn't for eveyone. Most of my friends and family thought I was crazy for doing modifications on my new car, especially to the Bose sound system because "Bose is good"

I thought so too until I found out similar Bose system on Mazda6 has tweeters which CX-5 doesn't have, and Bose system on cheaper CX-3 offers tweeters and sub-woofer!

My guess is that they had to make some compromises on the cx5 to get the price right. And sound took a hit. But at least the system is upgradable so there's that

I'm with Jazzjim as why we have to be pulling apart the dash or door panels for a new car to improve a supposingly decent Bose system? If CX-5 Bose has tweeters like Maxda6's, or has "cheaper" 7-speaker setup with tweeters and sub-woofer like CX-3's, I wouldn't consider pulling apart the dash or door panels for any speaker replacement! I simply don't think it's a compromise for the price point, but a bad judgment on design and implementation!

In the mean time, I'm still looking for the correct Bose speaker wiring adapter...
