Bad first oil change experience

I don't want this to happen to anyone else. It was my own fault. I had and oil change on the 20th and didn't check the level after but just to see if it was clean or not. Well, two days ago my car started to surge anytime I hit boost. I drove all the way home not boosting. Well, I let the car sit and the dipstick reads twice as much from the full line. WTF! I take it back the next day and have them check it. Well they drained it and re-filled it. I get back to my shop and guess what it is half over this time. WTF!! From all the pressure of the week and a half of driving hard on and off I'm worried about the seals. I could of seized my motor. Anyhow, I drained the thing myself and got it to the right level. Please, even if you trust the shop, double check cause the dipstick IS NOT the best and with clean oil, really hard to read. Later.

Today was the first time i went to check my oil level after 5 weeks of ownership. I had my car parked in the garage for the night after my 2 hour wash/clean up yesterday. Speaking of garage, make sure you check your oil level on a flat ground or after the car has been rested for at least 3 hours. Sometimes if you don't let it rest, the oil may have spashed onto the dip stick while the motor was running...so let it drain off while it sits on a flat surface. Anyway, it looks like my oil level is slightly above the 'F' part of the stick, but i'm not worrying. With almost 1100km on the car, it has been driving perfect and boosting great since.

Thanks

Above F is fine, nothing will happen. Mine was about 1-2 quarts over, not good. I checked it in every situation you could think of. I did what the manual said, which is after a normal temp. let car sit for 5 min. and check. I did it after the whole night sitting on a flat surface. I did it plenty of times. But, just be careful.

Hmm. Is it really necessary to check the dipstick/oil level often? I would assume the only way you can lose a lot of oil is some kind of leakage, like a bad gasket, seals, or loose drain plug or filter. I know small amount of the oil gets 'burnt' after a while, but usually the loss is like half a quart or less for old cars after a periodic oil change. Especially when the car is so new, is it necessary? I only check on leakage and look under the car once in a while, but don't have the habit of using the dip stick.

Wondering if I have been doing it wrong all this time.

Yes! Do it and do it often (at least once a week). If you are loosing a lot of oil, it is a sign of problems to come. You will never know until it's too late. Go ahead and get in the habit.

I don't know the shop you were/are taking it to....but it sounds to me like they have nothing but MORONS working there....ANYONE that fills the car with oil solely based on the dipstick level shouldn't be touching ANYONES car....you drain the crankcase....you put on a new filter.....you SHOULD KNOW how much oil the car holds.....and that is ALL YOU POUR IN! and if at that point you check the dipstick and you THINK that its not showing where it should....you need to look to see if you forgot to put the drain plug back in and its running out all over the floor....geeeeeeeeeeeez just how stupid are these guys...

just ANOTHER reason to do your own oil changes....

How much oil is required for the MAZADSPEED?
when i read the manual, it says it requires a different type of oil with all these #'s and code's that i don't understand....
Do they just mean sythetic or something?
