Bad first dealer experience.

Well i went for my 1st oil change at the new Avante N.Toronto dealership. They were very informative with the clunk in my rear suspension. Seems like someone brought their MSP in there before and mentioned it to the same mechanic. I believe it was dpmmsp. Anyway, they didn't do anything to replace it, but believes it's an 'oversized' bushing. Although, lately with the warmer weather, i haven't been getting the clunk. Nor did the mechanic hear anything on his test drive. But, he did tell me that if i ever hear it again, to bring in back to him and he'll do something for me.

My first experience, i must say it was pretty good for a Mazda dealership. They covered my seat, but left a few greesy spots on my steering wheel and shift knob. Over all, they did a good job, and none of them were fooling around with the car. Maybe it's because i was watching their every move.

I would bring it back for my next oil change, but it's going to get costly. As the labour and oil filter cost me $ 16.45 + tax with my own oil supplied.

oh watch your odometer! this one dealership i bought my speed from, they drove my car 10 miles to try to duplicate the problem i stated. I bitched and got gas money back. never again will i go to there service dept.
your best bet is to talk to the mechanic in the back find out if hes cool and request he work on your car each time you bring it in.
I now bring my car to only one dealer and request that only he works on it. same with your service advisor. find one that listens to your complaints and deals with them. use 10 w 30 its better in hot weather since summer is coming. best bet is to do most the maintenance yourself. and leave the hard stuff you dont have tools or know how to the highest up MASTER TECH. and request that the only mazdaspeed trained techs work on your speed.

Ok, here's a follow up.

I sent a 2 page fax to the dealer on April 27, 2003. I also mailed the original. Gave my phone # to call me re: concerns

No response.

I re-sent the letter with new fax yesterday, again mailed the original.

No response yet.

If i don't hear from them by next week, I am sending a copy of the letter to Mazda Canada.

This in f'in outrageous !

MS MSP #143.

p.s. If no response, I will personally lead the boycott of Erin Mills Mazda.

bad experience

MS MSP give Gyro a try......

The service team there knows that customer retention is based heavily on post purchase service. As someone else said "that is where the money is!"

The service managers are knowledgable on all models and in some cases, may have more experience than most. Gyro was the dealership that serviced the first MSP from Mazda Canada before the media test drives and photo shoots.

Call service and ask for Hanna or Jeremy. Tell them your concerns ahead of time so that your time at the dealership will be used efficiently.

Good luck

p.s. they are well aware of the clunk (via my MP3) they might even be overstocked in the bushings by now. lol

FMJ;)

Hey FMJ,

Thanks for the tip.

Gyro is actaully closest to my house, at the time i was shopping, they said they wouldn't be getting any Speeds and that I "would never find one as they are all taken."

I have seen 2 there since. Inluding an Onrange one now if anyone's interested. It has 52 kilometers on it.

I was unhappy with Gyro since i was trying to buy a P5 from them. I walked out twice when they wouldn't give me the deal i was looking for. There was a promoton in January that they wouldn't honour. The 2nd time, when we did finally hammer out a price, they ried to pass off a low kilometer lease without telling me. I was ready to sign, when i noticed it.

I have been there for parts (oil filter, hood deflector, etc. and a flat tire).

I will be giving them a try, as i still have the clunk, the stereo still resets, and i have the hestiation too.

later
