Backup camera weirdness!

I am the same. I read the manual of my current 6 from cover to cover and on occasion I still go back to it.

Here is an extract from this years manual showing what should be displayed. I assume the 2016.5 should be very similar:

Capture.jpg

Shows that the bumper should be visible.

The CX5 cameras are very good.

Those who ever tow a trailer will never want a car without one after youve had one.

Reason: I can position my towball directly under the trailer coupling so accurately it is not funny. I can see the tow ball fully in the camera, Which goes to show how close the image is to the rear of the car. And yes, you can just see the bumper.

Highly recommend turning the color up, and the contrast down. Really makes the view "pop".

Why can't I sleep tonight.... 😥

Oh, and by the way - this thread doesnt even touch what my Nav system did on Wednesday for weirdness!!!

We were driving from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast on the motorway a trip of about 125 km from my home. I had selected our destination so it was navigating, but we were on a stretch where it was still about 50km to the next turn. As we approached a exit from the motorway, the Nav system announced the exit details in some foreign Asian language - possibly Vietnamese!!!

It did the same thing the next exit!!

I got my son to go into the system settings to check if somehow English (Au) had been deselected, but no, it was correct. We reselected it anyway.

System was fine from there on, with no more Asian aliens taking over my MZD connect Nav system........

Wide angle helps immensely.

I have read much of the manual, some parts more than once. Unfortunately one of my cats peed on it because he is kind of an asshole. I wiped it down and it's been drying out but I may be throwing it out. I live an exciting life.

Re: the excerpt posted, I noticed that prior to the change (and the catpiss) and wondered why mine didn't have the bumper like in the picture. Mine looks like that now but with less bumper.

Might just have been a temporary glitch and now it's how it should be

Also your manual is still available online as a pdf. Here is a link to the file:

Seeing how the camera is solidly attached to your rear door, maybe your rear door wasn't closed all the way initially or is moving is some way.

Could be this but if the tailgate was open, the driver would have known by the display on the dashboard.

+1.... not sure what shortcut is on '16+ but on '13-'15 you can check on things back there while underway with this.
