Back From The Dynos

Today I went to get my car dyno. What a major let down. I know that the dealer over rates cars but damn I think they did it that bad. Back to the run with the Ingen CAI and a custum 2 1/4 catback system I am making 108.3hp to the wheels. I didn't get a torqe reading. O yeah the run was only 25bucks. Is this an ok hp based on are cars and all of the ECU B.S? I almost forgot I have an automatic tranny.

You realize that the manufacturer doesn't over rate your hp ##'s. They just tell the HP at the crank, not the wheels. You have to take driveline loss into account.

That actually is pretty good. The baseline dyno for a 5spd p5 is around 98hp, and it would be even less for an auto because of increased drivetrain loss. So 10+ hp with just i/e is nice.

As far as I know, an aftermarket torque converter only helps on lauches. It just gets your car into the powerband quicker. But it won't give you any more power to the wheels.

It just so happens that I'm mainly interested in improving my launch. I hate how slow and weak the P5 is in the low end. Anything to improve this would be welcomed (at the right price, of course). I was just wondering if a new TC would be worth it.

Never have done one on an import. Makes a huge difference in the old school V8 world, this I can assure you. Almost a full second shaved in the 1/4 mile.

Install is not for the weary. You better know what the hell you're doing / have the right resources before even attempting to do a TQ.
