B6T Gasket Set vs B6E Gasket set

Hey guys I'm looking for a complete gasket kit for a Mazda 323 Gt 1988 DOHC 1.6T. I think I've found one but it says its for a B6E, will it work for the B6T?

I'm not going to even answer that question
you clearly need a professional to help you with your engine work because you don't know the significant differences between ANY SOHC and DOHC engines

Actually, bad manners is alot closer then you think. The Bottom end and top end of both engines can be mixed and matched (not for the good mind you), basically, most of the gaskets should work as there have been many DOHC head swaps on SOHC engines. I dont know for a fact which will and wont work, but theres quite a few gaskets in the same design. The tolerances might be a little different, but I couldnt tell you that either. The only gaskets I would suspect wouldnt work are:
-valve cover (obviously)
-Intake mani gasket
-Exhuast mani gasket.

I havnt studied the bolt patterns of the SOHC or N/A engine parts, so its harder for me to say.

yes but the block is still different and so many other parts are too

if he was building a non-turbo DOHC B6, who cares right? the B6T has differences from even the non-turbo version
fact of the matter is, half the s*** in a SOHC gasket kit won't work in a DOHC anyway... so its a waste of time and money

I don't want to discuss this any further... the bottom line is, engine work is NOT for n00bs
leave it to the pros if you can't do much more than install intakes and change the oil

Danm dude, little touchy arent you? Think about it. This forum is here to help, not to be called out as a noob. He maybe, but hes asking for help, not for some jackass to tell him off.
If your not going to help, keep your mouth shut.

Now, the info on this page is almost completely false. I would stay away from this vendor, whoever it is. No B6E came turbocharged. If its a 1.6l Early mazda motor in either a 323 GT/GTX, or Capri XR2, its a B6T. If you can get either hands on help, or diagrams/photos of both DOHC and SOHC motors, you can usually see which fits.

it's more helpful telling him NOT to DIY and to bring it to a pro if he has to ask questions like these... indicative that he knows little about engine work

if you think being "helpful" is answering these questions, then what you're letting happen is he's going to have a car in pieces for a month or more... and he's going to keep asking more and more questions that are too difficult to answer because you're not really there to see what is going wrong

like I said, engine work is NOT for n00bs... if it was really as simple as installing an intake, there wouldn't be mechanics out there and everyone will be working on their own cars!

sometimes being helpful is not doing anything at all

Completely false. Think about it from another point of veiw, especially in this economy. Some people may not be able to afford a mechanics time to fix their cars, so they have no choice but to do it themselfs.
First off, I will point out that I am a Certified Technician, So I do have room to speak.
Second, I can completely relate to what hes asking. Sourcing out the right parts for the job, or making use of those parts that are not specified for a sertain application, but might work is what makes jobs easier. Plus, who are you to judge that he has no mechanical background? Maybe hes new to mazda? I know of other brands of vehicles where parts from different models and years are compatible. Thats really all he's asking.
Yes, Engine work is not for noobies, but the only way you learn is with hands on experience, and what better way then on your own car?

Ile leave it at this, dont jump to conclusions that someone is a noob when they are asking about cross refrenced information regarding engine parts. Many parts use the same design between engines, and half of it isnt even documented. So ask away, The people with the info are here to help, not shoe you off and give you the whole "You'l shoot your eye out kid" routine.
This arguments a waste of time, back to the subject at hand.

Thanks. as for me I'm still an apprentice mechanic in my first year. I'm still far advanced more than alot of people my age. I know tons of stuff, but all I was asking is a reference for parts DOHC and SOHC may use same headgasket, may use same exhaust, intake or whatever the parts may-be. I was asking before I tear down the engine for a rebuild, I don't really need your help to rebuild the engine, my boss can EASILY help, my dad owns a body shop and has a plethora of contacts that know all the tricks in the book.

88 GT: Do you think this vendor may have made a mistake writing B6E instead of B6T... the letters arent too far on the keyboard.

Its possible, sure. But the other red flag is stating the 1988-1989 mazda 323 GT. The GT was only imported for one year. 1988. But then again, I dont know what Quebec had come in those years. Mainly for the states, it was only one year.
Personally, Ide go to your local parts storeor through your shop and order a felpro kit, or Cometic kit for your engine. This way is right and a good product.
