What type of screw on knob will fit on the B&M short throw? What "mm" is the thread?

What have you done?

Thanks

I'm sorry...I didn't think I'd done anything! :D

Seriously, though, I'm interested in this, too. I've already decided to get the B&M, but I'd like to know which knobs I can start looking at.

It's 10mm. I just put my stock knob back on. It matches the shift boot better than any after-market knob.

yep...its 10 mm....just not EXACTLY what the thread pitch is....but seeing as how its the SAME thread size as the stock shifter...just unscrew the stock shifter knob and measure the threaded end...and you will have your answer.

and IF you don't have a clue as to how to do this.....do you have a can of misc. nuts and bolts like MOST of us car nuts/mechanics do? well if so....take the shift knob off....fine a stud/bolt that is the same diameter and thread pitch...then go to the nearest autoparts store or hardware store where they sell metric nuts/bolts/studs...and find one that matches and look at the bin and see what size it is....you got your answer.

Many of the shift knobs out there come with multiple inserts to put into them IF they are the type that screws on....then all you need to do is to ensure that the size adapter you need comes with the shift knob you want.....

others like MOMO don't screw on at all...but rather have three set screws that lock it in place on the shaft.....just find the knob you want....then see if it will mount on the shifter in an appropriate manner.

i too am getting the B&M shifter and just going to use the stock shift knob that thing is the tighest knob i have ever seen for a car thats stock wit it besides the VW'S and theres is just like ours but the silver part on ours is black on theirs and vice versus.....

FYI we'll have a Short Shifter for the Mazda in the near future. i've had one in my car for the past two months and i am very pleased with the results.

does it make that big of shifting the gears. have to run it hard and slamed the gear? does it hold up

the B&M shifter is a stronger unit than the stock one....its of VERY high quality...and YES, it makes a BIG difference.....its much more comfortable to shift with....

ONE of the few areas I was not pleased with on my car was the length of the throw of the shifter....I always thought it was TOO LONG....actually made it somewhat uncomfortable to shift fast at all....

with the B&M that problem is ALL GONE!
:D

My previous car was an Acura Integra. I had installed a DC Sports short shifter in it. I drove this car about an hour or so to the dealer where I baught my Protege5. Going from the Integra to the Protege5, the shifts were far. I couldn't believe how much of a difference the short shifter makes. I can't wait to get the B&M and be able to shift faster and smoother in the Protege5.
