AWR mounts destroyed...

I had my AWR mounts on my car about a week after they came out..... About 2 weeks ago my car felt like it was riding different and had extra play in the shifter so I checked my car and the urethane on the front mount looked like it was melted/cut up... my rear mount looked like a nuke hit it.. it was pretty much fragments of metal, except for the part of the mount that held the urethane rings in place :wtf: I dont know why this happened.. I rarely powershift or anything like that.. Im guessing the mechanic who installed the mounts torqued the bolts too much?? Is there a warranty on these or something lol?

Did it cause any other damage? I hope not. Definitely get in touch AWR because that's pretty scary.

Just my luck... I cant find the smashed mount! I dont think it caused any other damage.... Everything seems fine, right now the car is in Mazda and I wont have it back until Oct 4. because some sensors were bad that are on backorder. What kind of crap is that... Oh well I guess Ill contact AWR anyway ... I just hope the smashed mount is in my trunk or something so I have proof.

Definatly let Tony Know ,He may want the parts back to see what happened . Give him a call 1-760-598-9782 . The best time to get a hold of him is just after 8am PST That would be just after 11am NYC time

Dam dude , you sure you put them in correctly? Doesn't seem like you can just toast them that easy.

Sucks dude , thankfully your engine did not just come off its foundation and drop out.

i just put mine in sunday. Those things are beefy. It does look like the metal has to absorb a lot more stress becsue the urethane doesnt absorb much.

i have had my front one in for about 6 months. It looks fine. The rear one mount adds a lot of noise to the cabin.

Yeah, incorrect installation usually isn't covered under warranty.

That is what a "labor" warranty covers...Part warranty covers the part, the labor warranty covers any mistakes and damage that are made with a meesed up install.

Maybe I'm wrong?

AWR's costumer support isn't exactly the best when it comes to broken stuff.

One of my welds broke on my header, and Tony, apparently the Anthony in Anthrony woodford racing, just wanted me to ship the header to him at my cost, so he would weld it back up, and send it out. I suppose that isn't so bad, but I didn't exactly have in mind sending a header out for 30-40$ to not have a car for a week and a half, not to mention all the extra labor of removing/re-installing the header, ugh.

Anywho, I got the impression from Tony that he thought the header broke because of me, although when installing the thing, I conciously looked at the weld on the top and was like, "Damn that weld is thin". Sure enough, a week after installing BOTH engine mounts in my car from AWR, the header broke at that thin weld. I really have the impression it was a combination of the thin weld, and rigid mounts.

Tony justy kept reminding me how they had the same setups on their racecars and it has never happened, so I don't know. Those welds do look hand done, maybe not all headers are alike?

Oh well. =p

Wow.

I was just about to go out and buy that header...this does not sound like someone who really cares to stand behind his product.

Nice.

Ah well, the Ractive one is looking better and better each passing day - it may be cheaper, but at least I know I'll get real customer service if anything goes wrong.
