actually you don't need to disable. the airbag opens underneath the a-pillar meaning the gauges would be flipped towards the window.

everyone is always scared, but trust me, you have nothin to worry about.

i have seen a couple side air bag deployment pics, and on the both, the a-pillar was still in tact with the air bag deployment coming from underneath

im going to buy the 2 pod pillar and get a seperate mounting cup for the boost around the stock dash gauges so i only need to look one place for all my info. has anyone installed a gizzmo shift light or something along those lines? i was thinking about installing one and placing it inside the driver side vent in hopes it would illuminate the whole vent and keep hidden.

see i wasnt afraid of the whole pillar shooting into my face....just the gauges popping out of their holes like a cork in a champaign bottle.

Exactly! When that airbag fires, the pillar flys open with alot of force. If there are guages mounted in it, they could come flying out like projectiles and who knows which direction they will end up flying.

Just because the pillar seems to be in place after the deployment, doesn't mean replacing it is OK. In many cases the steering wheel airbag cover is in place after it deploys as well, but we all know how much force it flies open with.

Why does it show a 3 guage A pilar mount(the very first one) and then in the description it says "it fits 2 52mm guages". I dont get it. Is it a 2 or 3

it says it fits 52mm, 2 inches and 1/16 inches. i understand your misinterpretation. two different forms of measurement, but the same size. they would have been better off just saying 3, 2 and 1/16 inch gauges, or 3, 52mm gauges.

Guage wise I have also heard that it is better to get electrical rather than mechanical. Electrical are more accurate

Actually, mechanical is more accurate than electric. Race cars dont use electric gauges, so that should tell you something.

even better news...i cancelled the order for the a-pillar and got the triple gauge pod for the dash from lotek. 55.x shipped priority mail. looks about as stock as you can get.....aaaand doesnt look riced out.
