Aux Input wires

Alright, I'm in the process of installing an aftermarket stereo in my '08 speed3. Does anyone know off the top of their head which wires come from the armrest aux jack? I have a 1/8" input on the back of the new cd player for an aux in, and I'd like to go ahead and connect it, but I need to know which wires to spice into. Thanks.

I went ahead and used a voltmeter to test it out. For any people in the future who want to know how it works, the clip on the left side of the factory stereo has the Aux input cables. Black is tip, white is ring, red is sleeve.

Your best bet MIGHT be to instead of interfacing behind the HU just disassemble the armrest aux jack and interface there.

Cut the factory lead like 5 inches from where it exits the armrest and wire up a seperate phono jack with wire and snake it from the armrest jack up behind the HU and plug it in. Send the plug end up to the HU and the other end splices into the wires coming from the now cut aux jack in the armrest.

It might be easier than if you have to strip and do wiring up in the dash.. Factory wiring is usually at a premium and you don't have much slack to pull to interface. Should also be easier if you have to convert it back to stock.

just remember like the above poster said make sure you know your aux jack polarities are correct. You can make a quick tester if you have no voltmeter... which you should :)
