im still searchin around.. everything links me to the iceman style thing. I logged onto the ipodlounge and asking/looking for options there.

Could someone tell me is the PIE unit available from Logjam converts our headunits (2002 Protege5) to M-Bus or AI-net?

Thanks a lot!

how does it sound

sounds really good. if i leave the vol. on the ipod around 75% it sounds the best.

im thinking of getting this car connector that uses the headphone jack cord but it plugs into the docking station along with a power supply. so you dont need to worry about the volume, and it charges as well.

im thinking of hacking at the ashtray and make a custome holder for the docking station. I need to extensd the length of the ash tray though.

Try this out for size:

It's going to be ready in about two to three weeks.

Sure it is..........
I've been talking to these guys for months because they are developing exactly what I want. They keep delaying the release date for this.....the first time I talked to them they said it would be ready in October! Don't get me wrong, I'm excited as hell to get my hands on one, and I understand that there are complications, but I'm not getting my hopes up on their 2-3 week release date.

That's True,

There have been many delays along the way. Prototype modules shipped a month ago. People who are on the early wait list are getting early production modules shipping now!

Truth be told, if you got on the wait list, it probably would be at least another month before we can get all the orders filled.

We still have supply issues, but things are at least better then they were before. The application specific connector inside the head unit was pretty difficult to source, and still remains our biggest challenge in getting a steady supply stream running.

OverLOAD

2001 Protege ES

Do the 2001 models have the same stock HU as the 2002, 2003's? I have a 2001 Protege ES - surely there must be a way to connect a Aux In device to my Tape/MD port.

I think they do but I'm not sure. No.....no one makes a aux input device for the Tape/MD port.....that is what OverLOAD/Sylfex is making.

Has anyone received their Sylfex Auxmod yet? How was the install? What Car/HU did you install it in? Did you have to use a Ground Loop Isolator for buzz or was it clean?

I was told I'm #280 on the waiting list.....hopefully I'll get one soon.

What's a ground loop isolator?

I have found no better resource than Tomi Engdahl :
Ground loops are a mystery to many people. Even college-trained electronic engineers may not know what ground loops actually are. Engineers have either concentrated on power distribution (for the electric company) or on equipment that happens to plug in to the power distribution system. Not much thought has been given to power distribution and equipment as a single entity where ground loops arise.

Ground loops are the most common cause of AC line frequency hum in sound systems. Ground loops can be geenrally identified by a low hum (60Hz in the US, 50Hz in Europe) through the sound system. A ground loop in the power or video signal occurs when some components in the same system are receiving its power from a different ground than other components, or the ground potential between two pieces of equipment is not identical.

Groud Loop Isolators reduce or eliminate this problem. I prefer to think of it as magic ;-) No not really but it will solve most "Hums" in home and car stereo systems.

Looks like are two recent options available: Both allow control of the iPod with the factory radio.

http://mp3yourcar.com/ has something called "Neo iOn SP" for $199.99 USD. Part #10052 is listed to be compatible with 02-03 Protege

and

http://densionusa.com has "ice>Link Plus for 2003+ Mazdas" $229.00 USD. Lists Compatibility for:2003-2004 B-Series Truck, 2004 Mazda 3, 2003-2004 Miata, 2003-2004 MPV, 2003-2004 Protg S, 2004 RX8, 2003-2004 Tribute

(notice the "S" not 5 next to Protg)

Does anyone have any info on either of these? At these prices I'd like to get some real world experience before purchasing. I'm off to Google
Has anyone verfied these units?

The Protege radio was no different in 2002 compared to in 2003. So if they work in a 2003 P5 they will work in any 2002 protege.

I up dated the first post, can you guys correct me where wrong please.

ok guys this is enough!

i have a XM Satelite Radio all i want is to connect the Audio out from the XM to the MD/Tape in the HU, now i need a straight answer who is coming closest to getting this thing done? and will it actually (on ur opinions) work on a mazda protege 5 2003.5 with the 6disk changer NOTICE!!!! (potkettle (potkettle (rant) WITHOUT LOOSING ANY FOCTUALLATY(SPELLING?) WHAT SO EVER!?

I DON'T NEED THE IPOD

just want to listen to my satelite radio (evil)

No system uses the minidisk input, they use the external CD changer connections. PIE is the best bet. You need the PIE to alpine changer, then the pie alpine changer to Aux input.

However, like you have probably read, once you select the aux, the cd player will not work again until you power off the car or unless you unload and reload the CD player.

Atleast this is my understanding of it.
