I just finished reading the "Vile Gossip" Column written by Jean Jennings of Automoblie. She wanted to see if mazdas 155 MPH claim on the MS3 was legit so they took it to germany and let it rip on the autobahn. She actually got it up to 162mph. I just thought that it was a cool tidbit. You lucky MS3 owners.

hummm!thats pretty fast for a mazda 3! i d like to see the look on the face of a corvette owner who see s a mazda 3 in is rear view mirror at 160mph!!!(omg) hahaaahahahh

That's pretty rediculous, I assume it's drag limited then. Anyone know the CoEfficient drag of the MS3?

Actually, she writes that there was an Audi A8 owner who was tailgating her pretty bad in the speed limited sections of the bahn, but once she got the the no speed limit zones, he quickly became a tiny spec in the rear view mirror

well,i beleive the 3 speed is pretty fast, but to say that it left an A8 in the dust on the autobahn, that seem to be a bit ridiculous, thoses audi s are beasts on highways, maybe he just didnt push it....

its really fast for a small car,but be reallist,no way it can eat an A8 at that speed,on a take off,i d beleive it,but after 100mph,no way!(glare)

he didn't say they were racing, the driver probably wasn't willing to go 160+ mph in their A8

I remember seeing that the coefficient of drag of the MS3 was 0.32.

Really? Because that's the same as the P5 when I had it. Interesting. I guess such is the power of more horsepower and a 6th gear :)

BINGO!

They were not racing, it's just the disbelief of a little red hatch storming down the autobahn at 160+ mph must cause people to do a double take.

like: WTF was that????

A: they must be taking groceries to a really important person!

Just as a point of technicality, the MS3 was taken to 161.5mph (260kph) but it really doesn't matter (ie. it doesn't matter if it was 161 vs. 162 vs. 163), but the point was that even then the speed limiter didn't kick in!!! Maybe it's just marketed at 155mph for insurance purposes I have no idea, but regardless this car is pretty bad. Oh and yeah the A8 wasn't racing but still - pretty awesome!
Can't imagine how this car is going to run once people start slapping on the GT3076R offered by atpturbo.com (now on their front page). The potential for this little car seems pretty remarkable.

nitpicker :)

Yeah an MS3+bigger turbo = goodbye STI and EVO.....From a roll anyway.

was reading Road and Track very closely and noticed they had an asterisk by their 155mph top speed specifications, saying that it was electronically limited at 155mph. I guess that means this one that was tested is a European on that is not limited?

Had mine doing 220km/h the other day. ran out of road so i had to let off. It did it like it was going for a sunday drive.
