Autometer Purchase

Went to a semi-local go-fast shop today after work. They have a big sale on.
Anyway, bought some autometer gauges, boost and A/F ratio.
Wanted to buy the full pillar pod too, but they told me it would take 3 weeks to get here!!!

I'm going to see if I can find another source for it...
I need to mount my gauges!

NOOOO not another A/F gauge from them!!!! way god! whyyyyyyy!!!!
edit: boost is ok though. did you get 52mm (???) or 60mm (2 5/8)? BTW does autometer make the smaller ones with 0-30 psi only not vac???

I-Am-Chris.. what's with this air/fuel thing?
I looked in the MP3 section and couldn't find what you're going on about ;) enlighten me!

The autometer A/F have a very narrow range and aren't very accurate. Unfortunately that gauge won't tell you s***. (I too fell victim to Autometer, but I now own Greddy gauges. . .much nicer.)

Just order the pillar, cahnces are you won't be able to find it anywhere around you. Most sores in the GTA are saying 3 weeks. BT the full pillar does fit nice though.

I think the Autometer A/F works fine for tuning closed loop when you don't have access to a wideband or money for a GReddy. Still better than nothing.

That is true to a point. On all hondas they run rich and it not a set range. Now our cars I dont know. The one up side is they r cheap. BUT IMO, its like trying to monitor your boost with an innaccurate boost gauge. whats the point? yes It can give you a good idea but even a little off with the air fuel thing can lead you to buying a new motor . Now as far as other autometer gauges go they r fine, at least what i've seen. I really like there 2 5/8 boost gauge that just reads press. not vac.

I ordered the pillar from Options Auto. They are the only place I could find that had stock, everywhere else I called ANYWHERE were telling me 2 - 4 weeks...
I ordered the autometer gauges because I didn't want to shell out big $ right now on these. I plan on upgrading them at a later date to something more accurate.
I wanted them now, and yes, they were cheap, plus on sale.
On a side note, the documentation that comes with the A/F gauge specifically states the readings will be all over the place, which is what I would expect anyway as the O2 sensor vaires the voltage. What's with the "narrow range" you're talking about?

Narrow band is 0-1 Volt, Wideband is 0-5 Volt. Narrow band is accurate around Stoichiometric readings such as 14.7:1. Wideband is accurate from 20:1 - 8:1. In other words, you can't really tune boost with a narrow bind.

i just thought id give my 2 cents, my autometer phantom a/f meter is pretty much the same reading as the rspeed a/f meter that terry sells at spo0Lin. he said that the rspeed is pretty good so if the autometer is the same, that would mean its pretty good. good for narrow band at least. if you plan to bo0st a lot, go with a wide band a/f. i might buy the greddy just to compare the three together, if i do, ill let you know.
