Was thinking about doing a automatic to manual conversion with a 02 mazda protege lx 2.0l. Im not sure where to even begin. Any ideas or if it is to much fab work?

Most people say, sell and buy a new car that is a manual. Well I have bad credit (haha) and dont want to get one outside of a dealership and have potential problems with it later.

Best to have a parts car that is a manual at your disposal. The big parts you will need are transmission, Engine wiring harness, ecu, pedal assemblies and axles. I had all the parts to swap my protege 5 but sold the car before I did the swap. I still have everything except for the transmission and Engine wiring harness.

Transmission, pedals, axles, manual starter would be what you need, the engine harness and ecu is not absolutely "necessary" to actually drive the car but the dummy lights will be on and your reverse lights won't be on.....I did the same thing to my auto and yes people will say just buy a manual to begin with but that's garbage and you get to know your car a lil better.
