if you read the FI section and know im running 270 whp on an auto, it died and i am putting in new bigger and more clutches for now to get me by. it would be around 6-7 grand to build a tranny to full take the power and whatever on my auto. screw that.

soo... that leaves me with putting in a manual.

I want to put in a manual, preferably an MSP with lsd.

what would it take, i know it wont need the ECU because i cam goin from controlling the ECM to not with the manual.

how hard will it be to install the shifter linkage and the axles the same? any thoughts. peace- trav

I dunno but seeing as you are putting down that much power an msp tranny may not hold up very long, I am pretty sure it is not strenghtened on the inside parts.

It might be in your best interest (as well as your wallet), to trade in your P5 for a manual. Even if you had $6K in negative equity, it would be better to just trade it in for a manual.

would be WAYYYYYYYYY to much work to trade it in.

when you get a manual tranny you ought to shot peen the fork and cryo the gears. Also something to smooth out the shifts would be helpful also, im not sure what can be done with the syncronisers but that should also be looked at.

Very true, you have to pull the turbo kit out, put the whole car back to stock etc........ But it still may be cheaper to hire someone to put the car back to stock and trade it in for a manual.

2002 mp5 30K miles, BABIED never driven hard, tranny is perfect.

lol sorry trying to take me blowing up my tranny best i can. but it would be to much work, i have lots of custom stuff close to 40 grand in the car lots of it being motor, it ever seeing stock again would never happen. if i sell it, everything goes with it.

if i get a msp tranny and put a race clutch in it, it should be ok, new axles will be needed but should handle 300 whp. I HOPE

again, ill let you all know. but ill need help as this goes.

go talk to green mp3 (he is posting most frequently in the "possibilities going n/a" thread, he did an auto to manual swap.

Buy a level 10 tranny...it will be alot cheaper and they will rebuild your tranny with level 10 parts...level 10 is known in the NHRA world and could handle that much hp...any other current mazda tranny will not. Maybe a ridiculous manual...but plus conversion costs...mucho dinero

level 10 is full of s***, go read my other posts. they dont know much compared to lentech. just buying a level 10 auto and convertor wont fix your problem. lots of other things you need to do that level 10 dont ever mention, that is IF you get a responce and IF they answer thier phone. lentech all the way.

and talking to many people, i have only heard bad about level 10 the more i bring them up, NOT A SINGLE BAD THING about lentech.

i have looked into switching from auto to a manual i am not a mechanical guru but it would be a b****, you would have to locate a manual with everything around 1500-2000 dollars parts alone then you would have to cut a hole for the clutch and do some serious work just to put in the tranny, i do not know if you have the techinical skill to do this type of job , if you do then it is feasible but to do the switch would cost about the same as beefing up the automatic from lentech, if not more, then once you
get the manual tranny in you would have to beef that up which would cost another 1000 in parts if not more, for your power application, the lentech may not be a bad idea if you are interested in running that type of power to just talk to that lentech place
my 2 cents

Hmm...YOu can get a manual tranny with low mileage for under a grand. Try looking at car-part.com Don't forget the pedal cluster while you are at it...

gracias, yeah the auto to manual wont be hard but i did know the linkage and clutch is a b****. the auto tranny is huge compared the little manual.

im collecting all the parts right now, goin to go with MSP.

no holes

Guys no holes have to be cut for thr clutch. it already comes with a rubber plug that all you need to do is remove it and plce the pump and pedal piston but it won't be as easy as it sounds unless you do it with two people( one on each side0in and out of the car.
BELIEVE ME!!!!

May I ask why the hell did you spend 40k on a 16k car !?!

the car has LOTS of electronics. Custom everything pretty much. And not to mention the tranny work and motor work that has and has to be done.

please dont knock me for putting lots of money in my car.
