I was just courious how many people out there have the auto sport shifter? I have seen many interiors of proteges but have yet to see one with the sport shifter.

Unfortunately, I have that option. Although, next to the other auto option, I guess it isn't that bad.....

i noticed that too. every time i peek at somebody else's p5 it's a stick.

i like the autostick! yeah maybe it's not a good match for the engine, but while i'm learning different steering and braking techniques, being able to leave the shifting to the car is a great thing. plus i'm getting really good with left foot braking... heh heh

I've got the sport shift auto. It's much better than a standard auto. I can shift at higher rpms, downshift at will to pass and use a little engine braking. Still wish I could have found a manual but I'm very content with this setup. Sorry, no pics.

I personally like the sport shifter sidpro5. I have kids so its nice having an automatic. But I like the fact i can controll my RPM's like a stick when I want to get that extra little speed.

Here is another question. Has anyone with the sport shifter put any type of aftermarket shift knob on with some type of a universal shift boot? I have been looking at doing this because I have a MOMO shift knob sitting in my garage that I paid alot of money for and hate it just sitting around.

Overdrive ?

Does the sport auto have overdrive ? How do you turn it on and off ?

Mine has no O/D button on the shifter like regular protege auto transmissions.

no, we don't have o/d on the sport auto. Isn't forth gear (last gear) overdrive?

Fourth would be considered an "overdrive" gear, as most OD trannies are basically 3+1.
