Auto Climate Control Question

When the auto climate control is turned on, does the AC stay on even in cold weather. Recently its been in the 40s and the AC was still on, even though warm air was coming out. Is this normal?

Yes, especially if any air is blowing on the windows. It dries the air to reduce the chance of fogging.

The owners manual implies that the auto control will turn off the A/C under appropriate conditions. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen temps cold enough to observe this.

Technically, when the compressor isn't running, the air comditioning is off. The setting may remain lit (a small green light to indicate that it is still active.) The cycling of the unit seems to allow the air conditioner to remove humidity easier. This is especially important in defogging windows.
