Audio upgrade questions (2024 CX-5 w/Bose)

2 days ago, I bought a 2024 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Premium. I have installed an aftermarket car audio system in every vehicle that I have owned the past 25 years.

I have not found any resource yet on how to tap into the audio signal before the Bose amplifier. I would want a clean signal to connect to a DSP and amplifier. It would be great if a company made a t-harness for this purpose.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or a "how-to" to tap into the factory audio signal prior to the Bose amplifier?

Thanks ahead of time and I look forward to sharing my experience as I modify my CX-5.

*Below is the diagram for a 19 CX-5 with Bose. The 24 CX-5 connectors and wires are different colors. Unable to confirm if they are the same wiring, but I can tell they’re the same connectors at Bose Amp.

Check out this thread for the diagram.
*Need to confirm if 19 and 24 CX-5 have any other changes, including wiring colors and locations.

I appreciate your replies to this thread, thank you.

As many people have said, I’m surprised that no aftermarket company makes and plug-n-play kit for Mazda-Bose to add aftermarket amplifiers! If I figure this out I’ll sell them 🫣

The real answer here is for iDataLink to get off of their butts and make an interface for their Maestro AR. But alas, nope.

A quality OEM integration DSP like the JL Audio Fix line can give you a clean signal though. It will take all of the channels coming out of the amp, sum them, remove any phase shifting, remove any equalization, remove any crossovers, then give you a clean signal you can then work with. May want to look into one of those.

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 with Bose has different color connectors and different colored wires in different locations from my 2019 CX-5 with Bose. Here are some current pictures of the above from my 2024 CX-5 at the amp.

If anyone knows which connector is for the audio or has a correct pin out of the 24 Bose system, please let me know!

It sounds strange but i “interviewed” several local car audio specialists in my area on installing the JBL hub sub in my 22 cx-5 turbo. I wanted it spliced in before the amp, hoping to avoid the eq programed into the amp. The only place that said they have access to the factory wiring layout and would tap the signal and solder the rca connector’s wire and shield was my local best buy. They did it, and it preserves the bose “sub” (actually more like midbass) so I still use it also, now mounted on the cargo floor on my rubber mat via velcro and is easily removed if I need the space. The Mazda pre amp signal is pretty hot so the gain on the JBL is just a little off minimum. The sound is very satisfying. It is really all the Bose needed. Down the road I would not mind looking into dsp and new speakers. I also installed (myself) sound deadening in cargo and all doors.

IDK if you made any progress, I am looking into fixing my aftermarket sub installation.
What I found out from surfing is the blue connector is a Mazda Opctic to amplifier, so you can only tap post-amp/EQ.

The people who installed my subwoofer, tapped into the rears. I am searching to see if the rear doors have the same roll off as the bose subwoofer.

Decaf - White Clouds, the 33hz note doesn't hit at all.

My installer had access to the oe wiring diagram, maybe an alldata subscription? Anyway they did get into preamp signal for rears. My jbl is hooked up line level, not speaker level. Mazda used some form of a balanced signal similar to the wiring of xlr cable, to eliminate noise. I tried replacing the speakers also myself with several brands including kicker, power bass 2 ohm and Harmon’s infinity reference (parent company of Bose). Because the Bose amp is programmed for crossover, eq, and time delay they all sounded terrible and were returned and the paper cone Bose speakers re installed. I can confirm my 22 turbo audio wiring is different from the 2019 diagrams floating around here. My jbl sub hooked in allows me to keep using the Bose bass /sub as it provides more mid bass than sub.

I’m extremely pleased with the jbl basspro, it provides the extra foundational bass that is all the system needed. I’m using zero phase, about 10% gain , cross over is at 80 and bass boost about 2db, using Apple Music lossless and hi res when available as a source. The only way it gets better would be a removal of the Bose amp, Bose speakers and a dsp tuned amp and component speakers installed and a very skilled installer/ tuner that will take the hours required to integrate it all with the head unit. Has anyone actually seen this done to the Mazda Bose based audio system using the OEM controls? That is the issue with modern cars, the integration.
