ATTN: Mac users or Apple Employee

both windows and apple machines serve their purposes. there's enough pc vs mac threads out there.

AMEN to that.

BTW - if all you want your laptop to do is email, browse and picture share don't waste your money on a MacBook. Buy an iBook. I have the 14" 1.33MHz G4. It will do all that and more. I have mine set up to do portable (sort of) audio recordings with a ProTools Digi002.

I wouldn't even consider joking about buying a MAC right now.

only reason why they are still around is the ipod.
WOW...............just wow. i mean........ok so i used to sell laptops............the beggest selling point on an apple..."has your PC ever once crashed or had a single problem?" sold. plus. im an arch student. The better students are all on Mac's. those that just dont know are still on PC. In the design world, MAC owns all.

Again, you MAC ( using MAC because you MAC people hate it when I say MAC ) people get too worked up over this s***. I have so much fun just irritating you MAC people! it's too easy! canl't a guy have some fun???

MAC!

Jokes aside, Apple sells like 5-6 million machines a year including laptops/desktops. Windows XP alone sells 150+ million OEM licenses per year. That's a pretty big difference. And photo/music people are a nitch group. Our Apple fanboys at my university are slowly moving to PC's now. Apples just don't have the advantage they used to back in the 80's/90's.

It's been a rumor now for a long time, that Apple may very well ditch the computer hardware aspect and go more towards the software/osx/ipod and music instead. They almost make more money on the ipod now then computers. Will it actually happen? Who knows.

btw, I support both at work. I see Apples crash all the ******* time. Get over it. I actually like OSX to a degree. But perhaps some can't see the sign of things to come. We already have Apples...sorry MAC's :)ooops I mean Apples running on Intel chips. OSX on intel PC's coming soon. Next is MAC errr Apple clones in the same sense there are PC clones everywhere. that's when the fun begins. Apple has full control over the quality of their machines right now, once they go clone, they lose that. 3rd party companies making drivers for OSX. OSX being way behind windows in that dept. Now, I'm not saying Windows is perfect, far from it, but they have quite a few years of a head start in mass driver support over OSX.

What Apple does over the next 3 years is going to be very interesting.

its all gravy baby. im on my sony right now anyways. im no MAC freak or all out supporter or anything. only the way you said it made it seem as if MACs/Apples are a big joke and only idiot supporters of thier cult buy them. im not an apple maniac. i have just seen first hand at how much quicker and smoother a top of the line mac does rendering compared to a top of the line PC. i will still always use my PC too.

like I said, I do like OSX. it's quite a good OS. And I have seen the performance you are talking about as well but it's only in certain situations it seems.

I've spent 25 years around computers. I don't really want Apple to die. It means competition for Microsucks, and someone needs to stick around and keep MS on their toes. Kind of like AMD vs Intel. No big secret that AMD makes a damn good chip.

anyways, back on topic

No it is a "platform"

True, but it isn't only a platform. Not now it isn't at least: witness the "Macbook". The name will be carried on through the rest of the product lines in order to brand the name.

Ok. I'm not on here to create argument. Everyone keep your goddamn opinion please. Each of you have your own preferences and right now I'm migrating to Apple because they're dope. I'm just looking for opinion on whether I should wait or not.

I would wait in all honesty. At least a few more months to see what the come out with. I'm toying with the idea of picking up a new laptop myself.

i really wanna get the new 15" now. but with the advice of everyone i know thats into mac's.......im waiting till june/july. thats when they'll probably be releasing the super duper version of the dual core. possibly with a newer OS that can take better advantage of the intel chip.

From what I heard, that's about the same thing. I hope they release it soon..

Any of you know when is New York MacExpo? I believe it's the next biggest event for Apple, so assuming they'll announce something new.

They stopped having a Macworld (Macexpo) NY about 3 years ago. It's only been Macworld SF since.

The next "big" event is the Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC), but that won't be until June. NAAM show was last week and about the biggest "release" there was an Intel native version of Soundtrack.

If anything, I'd just expect product to get released normally or rather via a press conference or something like that (similar to the iPod nano and iPod 5G releases late last summer/fall).
