Attention All P5'ers!

Did you get to drive the car with the turbo installed? If so, what did your butt dyno say? :D Did it feel awsome?

Driving it now. Pulled a '97 Integra w/ moderate bolt ons by 3-4 cars. It feels awsome. It feels like 210-215 hp.

I would give my left nutt to see the look on the Teg driver's face when a "station wagon" pulled on him!! SWEET!

Can we see some more pics of the kit and some shots of the intercooler? Also the turbo with the cover off? Please? Pretty please? :D

Of course! Let me get it coated first. I hope to take more photos in the next week or so.

Sorry man, I thought you had already sent the stuff away to be coated, Figured you had gotten it back.
I'm sure I won't be the last to post asking for more pics :D This is an exiting time for us Protege owners who are thinking about going turbo. The BEGI turbo has been long awaited.
I will try to restrain myself in the future. :)

lol...WShade...I appreciate how you been so cool with everyone asking the same questions but I'm sure you can understand how excited we all are...I couldn't believe my eyes when I realized we had a TURBO p5 in tha house! :D

turbo response

i would love to have a turbo for immediate horsepower, yet the cost is horrendous. thats why for now im going N/A. it would be nice for an N/A Pro5 to stomp some of you speed quick demons out there! :) a turbo that adds about 40 some HP would be awesome, but then again $$$$. if any one knows about mods please keep me posted!

Kinda off topic but not really...

Here is an E-Mail from Corky answering some of my questions...

Hi Don,
Thanks for the comment.

We are not ready to make 250 BHP yet. The fuel system is the drawback. The current fuel system will not permit more than about 215/220 BHP.

If you can handle going to an engine management system similar to the Haltech or Electromotive, then the task would be easy, but that is the key element.

Our basic hardware can hanlde the 250 level without difficulty.

I would keep the CR around 9 to 1.

CR=Compression Ratio :)

Sweet Ride!

W Shade...I love what you've done w/her. Plan to do something similar w/ mine eventually. Couple of questions though...have u moded the tranny in anyway...clutch?lightened flywheel?B&M short throw? and do you have a B.O.V. that can't be seen in the pics? thanks and I love the car!

Good Deal!

Yea, I got my B&M shifter about 6 weeks ago. It was a very easy install. I pretty much decided to get the 9lbs flywheel and a better clutch before saving for the turbo b/c i don't want to tear something up. Do you like the blow back B.O.V. better then a regular B.O.V.? And are you going for a strickly "sleeper" look?

Utilizing this B.O.V. drastically reduces turbo lag. Going for the "sleeper" look for now. I only plan coilovers and rims for the exterior in the near future.

TURBO and PARTS HELP!!

SUP ALL, I'm looking to put a turbo on my pr5 and i need some help. I've done headers/intake/exhausts before(honda accord) but nothing as serious as this. What would i need (when i get the turbo) to make sure everything is running ok(headers/exhaust...etc)? and i'm looking to go to about 200hp, nothing really over. Anyone know of any companies that make turboz for a pr5? Can you guys provide me with names of the manufactures who make parts for a pr5, i really didnt find anything except for an injen intake....need headers and all that!

 headers with a turbo? I've heard it done, but..why? I haven't heard much about that kind of set up but usually you need an intake manifold so why waste the money on headers if you have plans to go turbo...a downpipe would be a much better investment.

I plan to go turbo too and I am debating which is the best turbo kit to buy...yours looks pretty good..how much boost did you say it runs? I might go with yours or wait for the Mazdaspeed one so I can stay under warranty.

One more thing...did you do the whole install yourself or have a shop do it? how much did it cost to get done?

well..now that theres a whatseems good quality garett T-series turbo kit out..its just waiting for saving money and Crower to make some rods and JE to make some pistons for our car..haha...
200 or so hp @8psi sounds like a good place to start..but I think we have to raise the atmospheric level to like 20 =) for racing..

I am running just under 8 psi. My car was the prototype so BEGI did the entire install. It cost me a fraction of production just for the simple fact it was all fabricated from scratch and I was with out the car for 2 1/2 months. Good luck with your decision. :)

hey wshade, you think bell could replace the T3 with a T3/Te04? I've been talking with ITS (innovative turbo systems) about a custom t3/te04 setup..but if they could figure it out somehow...that would be pretty good...
maybe it could be a stage2 upgrade....
it is the ultimate street turbo after all....
