Attention all 02.5 & 03 P5er's

Ok boys and girls, this may seem like an odd post, but here it goes:

Have you recently purchased a custom shift knob? What are you doing with the stock leather one? I have an 02 P5, and would like to have the stock leather shift knob from an 03. I'm from Georgia, and if you're in the area, I'll drive to make the pick-up. I'm not even sure how much to offer...

Funny you should mention this. My wife got a new 02.5 PR5 a few months ago. She hated the leather shift knob (too big for her hands and not as distinctive-looking) so she had the dealer swap it for the plastic ball-shaped shifter from an '02 PR5 they had on their lot.

Personally, I have to agree with her... while I like the leather shifter (she also has leather seats) I think they took a step backwards with that change.

I was also happy to note that the billet aluminum Voodoo shifter from my Miata screws right onto the shaft of the Protege5 shifter.

Thanks for the input...maybe i'll run down to my local Mazda dealer and ask them about it.
