Whats up peoples....I am seriously trying to make my p5 close to j-spec FS-ZE horsepower levels....is this possible with the protege at tranny. I have heard various different things on this subject but nothing concrete. My service dept sux ass and they lie to me all the time whereas mazda motorsports probably doesnt race AT so any advice will be very helpful. Especially since if there are severe limits i will just focus on handling and exterior mods. Later

the ZE is only 170bhp(maybe 142bhp) the tranny won't be near it the limits...

Thats what i figured but i just wanted to make sure. At what point though would i need to look into bullitproof tranny parts(torque convertor..etc.)? How much HP and torque can the auto handle...where could i find out?

is there anyway to mod our trannies so that they shift smooth (no notches) when you try to shift fast?

The sport shift isn't bad going up the gears, just never shift down into first. I'd imagine you don't have that...

I believe perf's turbo kit for the AT was pumping out like 200whp, thought I saw that number.

My tranny is the 2001/2 OD tranny. I have found that they shifts are generally very smooth even from the rev-limiter....which i use semi-frequently. As i mentioned before there is a Bullitproof tranny that u can buy whole or have your current tranny modded with its components. Main problem is it costs as much or more than a turbo and it sounds like if perf has got 200whp in an AT then it aint necessary. I will pm perf to find out the deal on the turbo AT. Thanks peoples..
