Astonishing find! Front Sway Bar Links

Sorry if I seemed like I was talking down to you, I'm sure you know your s***, no worries.

But that's interesting about the MSP endlinks being longer than the regular Protege endlinks. I wonder if the cat at Autozone grabbed the 05-10 Escape endlinks by mistake. I know what you mean about the morons at parts stores though. I'm doing a KL swap and O'Reileys has the best selection of parts but i always get stuck with this kid behind the counter trying to impress me with his lack of knowledge and his stock Mitsu Galant with NOS stickers... (facepalm)

Maybe try a different Autozone. I got my Moogs from Autozone.

oh nah, i didn't take it that way :) just wanted to clarify. yeah it seems like i'm a magnet for getting wrong car parts too for some reason :|

currently i'm on the fortune auto coilovers. the msp endlinks were so long with that setup it was hitting lol. so my friend just cut it and welded back together taking about 1.5-2" off in the mean time. definitely need to fix it. so that's why i'm looking for normal protege front endlinks and ran across this cool thread. yeah, i'm going to go try a different autozone

and man are you right.. there's always some sort of cocky kid at every auto parts store lol

Why wouldnt you guys go for the 05-10 endlinks? for a Protege that is lowered(more than stock) you want the longer endlinks to keep sway bar at the parallel angle it came with stock?

im just curious why you guys are going with the shorter endlink than the longer one?

They are too long. Even the 01-04 Escape endlinks are nearly touching the control arm on my BC's. I understand your concept though.

I run my endlinks on ground control sleeves on stock struts. They're way the hell longer then the stock links and do almost touch the control arm. Its actually a real pain to get them on or off with the car jacked up. But they work like champs. Tightened up my turning stability a ton. Ya they look way too big but they're right.

why would you want that? I got these so my sway bar wouldnt hit the control arm lol i could care less what angle its at

Necroposting to give an update on the moogs, K80235. The ones that are 1.5" longer than stock MSP front links. They worked perfectly for about 6 months. Just recently though, I hear a pop occasionally when I back out of my driveway and my left wheel rolls down the curb before the right. Pretty sure it's one of the end links since I can feel it pop back into its socket when I go over the next speed bump on my street.

I jacked the car up and made sure every suspension related bolt was tight and yanked on the end links and they seemed pretty sturdy but I am not capable of the forces the car is.

The moogs have a lifetime warranty on them, but it requires you to return the part so I'd have to drive around for a few days without end links which is incredibly annoying. I am thinking about ordering the MS3 end links. I think they are same length as the 3's but have thicker bolts which may or may not be a problem for the MSP sway bar and struts. I thought I had read a post about it, but finding such things are pretty tough.

Oh it was actually not the end links. Those moog's have held up great. The pop was actually my wheel bearing. I've had the worst time with wheel bearings. Now anytime I hear any noise that's the the first thing I check.

better keep a spare in the trunk! lol

Semi-resurrecting this thread to say I just ordered a pair of the Moog end links (https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)) for my 2000 Protege. And yes, yes -- I know that if I were still on stock suspension, they wouldn't work. But I'm on Tokico Blues and Eibach Pro-Kit springs so no worries. :D

Anyhoo, I wanted to let everyone know that it looks like the part has changed slightly again, since the end links I received don't quite look like the ones posted here. But they do measure up correctly based on what people have said earlier in this thread.

Should have these installed by the end of the week. I still can't believe how much beefier they are over stock!

Ive replaced my wheel bearings in my 03 twice now. I dont understand what the issue is, but i wound up putting a weather seal on the inside of the knuckle that goes around the axle shaft. its been 8k miles and no issues.

I replaced my factory endlinks with...well...more factory endlinks at work and they started popping again.

Ordered the moogs about 22k miles ago...and well...i have to say these work like a charm. I grease them every oil change and they work great.

so are you guys ordering the 2002 awd escape front endlinks? or are you just ordering non awd endlinks? Will be installing coils very soon, thanks in advance
