really, the biggest difference between ordinary diesel and jet fuel is the additives in jet fuel to prevent bacteria from "eating" the fuel.

still, anything that will run on diesel will run on kerosene or jet fuel as well, though it may not be specifically designed to run on it.

so that "contaminated" jet fuel with diesel story is a load for crap

Yep my dad did that for a small time during his 35yrs in the Marines, they would do just about anything to get people to join. However still inform them that they are soliders first and formost any other MOS you have is purely secondary.
But he also did multiple tours in Vietnam and one was hauling supplys, despite any concerns he had with the equipment he still went through it. And despite being wounded with shaprnel (some still contained in his back) he doesn't regret doing it, its a job a job they sign up for (no he wasn't drafted, purely signed up).
