Are you getting the 430 miles range claimed by Mazda after filling up?

This is the second time that I fill my 2014 GT FWD up and computer shows a range of 372 miles using 87 Exxon. Mazda claims it should have a 430 miles range after filling up.

What kind of numbers are you getting? Please name gas brand!

Mines around 360-370 I think? But mine's GT AWD. Maybe the 430 miles is quoted for the 2.0 liter engine?

Yeah, mine is around 630km (about 394 miles), but I also have the 2.5l AWD.

At what point do you fill up, and how many gallons do you put in? I've one time gone to where it told me I had "low fuel" and needed to fill up. When I got to the pump I was able to put in 12.38 gallons in my FWD CX-5, which has a 14.8 gallon tank. I had gone a total of 370.6 miles, so if I had run it to completely empty, I would have made it just about 430 miles.

The range to empty is calculated off the average of the last tank you used. If you were driving 50/50 city and highway and got 27mpg combined then it assumes your next tank will be of similar range. The 430 mile range is for purely highway driving.

I didn't realize we had 14.8 gallon tanks though. I filled up the other day with only the last bar remaining on the gas gauge and it only took 12.5 gallons. That extra 2 gallons is a big reserve.

hmmm... last time there were 10 miles left by computer. I have to keep an eye next time on the gallons amount.
I think what matters is what the computer shows after filling up.

I've had it down to 10 miles over zero range and the most I've ever gotten in on a fill-up is just under 13 gallons.

I've had it read 434 for range just after a fill-up but it depends on what type of driving I was doing before the fill. I'm not sure how far back it looks for the calculation. Usually if I fill up at a station well along the 65 mph flat stretch of my commute it will read the 430+ for the range but as soon as I floor it to get back out with the flow of traffic it drops fast.
I wish it would underestimate at the start because it was always so hopeful when I first got it that I'd do close to that range but I've only topped 400 on a tank once.

I also wonder how much variance there is in the click off points on gas nozzles. Sometimes at near zero range it stops around 11.5 and sometimes closer up to 12.5

I've refueled 25 times since the car was new (8388 miles) and the furthest I traveled was 456 miles. Six times I was over 400 and generally I could go well over 430 miles but I am often going skiing where there are no gas stations nearby so I have to fill up while I still have significant range left.

When I went 456 miles it only took 13.94 gal. And the tank holds 15.3 gallons so I probably could have easily made it another 30-45 miles. I've found the Trip Computer to be very conservative in terms of miles to empty.

I don't know of any other AWD vehicle (petrol) with this much roominess that can even come close to this kind of efficiency.

Highest we've got was 384 miles and not much highway driving, just around town.

Yes, I frequently see 430-440 miles as my indicated range. I usually fill up at ~375 and it takes ~11 gal - very efficient 2.0 MT

On my 2014 FWD I usually get 390 miles or so before two bars of fuel left on the gauge. Two days ago I drove 10 miles past 0 miles remaining on Empty and could only get 11.8 gallons into the tank at fill up and it's a 14.8 gal tank so the reserve is pretty hefty for when the Empty light goes off.

I am just curious, when you guys fill up the tank, switch to "distance to empty" and what does it say? I think mines say something like 360+ or something like that.

I have the 2014 GT AWD. After fillup mine says 393 or 394 mpg consistently. When talking about range, its important to note that the AWD models have a SMALLER gas tank than the FWD drive models.

It's actually the other way around. They tried to keep the range the same between them so the AWD has a bigger tank.

The estimated Distance to Empty figure will vary considerably depending upon driving style and driving conditions in the miles before the tank was filled.
That's because the trip computer uses your actual recent MPG to estimate your remaining range.

When I fill up it generally estimates I have anywhere between 380 and 495 miles remaining.
