Are you effing kidding me?!!!!!!!!!!

Oh..and yes..Eggs suck..

I was referring to all the people who have never had the "pleasure" of seeing Egg damage first hand on their own vehicles.

The majority of people think the damage is done by the egg..when really..its done by the shell.

Thats all I was getting at.

yeah, and it really bugs me when every thread i've read about someones car being egged, the responses are something like this:

"i washed the egg off right away, so there was no damage." look again.

"the egg was on my car for a few hours in the sun and now there are spider cracks and chips on my paint"

"get some zaino and go at it. it should come out. did you leave the egg on in the sun?" uuuuuuuuhhhhhh, zaino=fail!

I am as OCD as it comes about cars..so I feel ya..

I get a scratch.I got to fix it..right away..or it will drive me Insane.

And As far as fading..Thats where a COmpetent Body shop comes in thats good at blending.
Silver is a Hard color to match though. Not because of fading..or the color..but because the flake will lay a different way when applied differently than the factory did it..or even out of two different spray guns.

Let not even get into Spray settings, pressures, Technques, and distances..all can change the way the flake lays...and ilver is almost all flake.

There is only so much anyone can do and an Insurance company will pay for.
Trust me..I push them beyond their limits on almost every repair they do for me.

I am as hard to please as they come.

i understand the complexities of repairing a metallic paint job. but i do know that it can be done. it just depends on whether or not the body shop is willing to take the time and do it.

the last car i had, they had the car in the shop like 10 times because they sucked at life. giant fisheyes, missing parts, etc. they sprayed a front bumper, fenders and blended hood in 1 day! that's way too fast. all i can ask is that the body shop take the time and do the best possible job they can, providing the insurance will pay them to.

i've seen good jobs, and i've seen horrible jobs.

the way the flake is sprayed on the spoiler is a different texture than the rest of the car. it still matches, but the flake is a little different. still looks great though.

i mean... if they have to repair the whole side of my car and blend it in at the bumpers, i don't mind. i have farmers, they're paying for it to be fixed right.

btw, this body shop is willing to come pick up my car 1.5 hours away and give me a free detail. now, this is an exotic repair shop. i can only imagine how long they take to detail a car. i'd rather them use that time for painting. they SEEM to have their priorities in order, however. and they said they deal with farmers atleast twice a day, so that's a good thing. :)

The difference you see on the spoiler is actually because of a different material.

Paint will lay differently on metal than it will on plastic...Thats a whole 'nother wierd discussion you could go into.

no, i know, you're right. but that's not entirely it.

the spoiler, i THINK is the same material as the bumpers though... right?

and the bumpers have the same texture, just slightly different in color.

^ i edited that post up there also. not sure if it matters. :)

If they did it twice chances are they'll do it again. Get some surveillance cameras. Lots of people post them up on their homes to protect from theft. Then if it stops then for sure its someone you know. And it probably wont happen again.

As long as you gots the paint code your all set. And i'm with them on the whole paintball s***. You like in CA right **** just rent a tiger or something like Joel Madden did. Or a mafia for hire. **** them up good!

^ haha.

thanks for that paint touch up thread man! i've known about those methods of touch up and they work great for rock chips. however, these chips are very very small and there are tons of them. :/ i'm just going to go ahead with the respray, it's only 100 bucks. wish me luck guys.

SO in reality..you only have a $100 Deductable..and you were makng this much of a Stink about how Particular you are with your cars....Yet $100 is all it wold cost you to fix it..

haha. yeah. it's not the money. i just don't want it to look worse than it does right now. that's all. i want it to look better, obviously.

i appreciate everyones insight. hopefully this will be sorted out in a week or two. :)

would a car cover help?

idk man... i mean... the damage has been done now.

if it gets fixed well enough, i'm gonna park it in the garage.

a car cover might have helped but they might have gotten mad at the sight of it.

besides that, a car cover + dirty car = ouch. and it's a little bit of a hassle.

looking back though, i probably would've bought one. i just wish i had a garage. :/

Well, good luck to ya. May the Mazdaspeed god shine upon your speed.

thanks a lot man.

i just looked at my gf's friend's evo today. it had the pass door repainted from being keyed.

it's also silver and was about a year old when he had it resprayed. looks absolutely 100% OEM. there are no flaws in the clear at all and the flake and color is exact.

gives me more hope. i think i just might be alright afterall. :)
