Are New Tires/Wheels Worth it?

I am going to be using my MS3 for everyday use, and not any kind of track runs.

With that said, aside from the look is it worth going from 7.5 to 8? And does a lighter/wider setup improve cornering and take offs a lot?

Stocks are 7" and moving to a wider rim/tire definitely improves handling IMO. I went with 7.5" with 235/40/18s. You may need to roll the rear fender with this setup though because it can make contact under full load.

ya, but as long as you're careful with your rim selection (high offset), you should most likely be ok with the rubbing...=d

Most people get new rims soley for looks purposes. As your aware it can dramitcly change the looks and feel of the car. The only person that can justify if it was worth would be you.

I put new rims on my car and its worth it not only from the look standpoint but tires. I moved up from the odd size that the p5 comes with stock to a widely more common size with a 17in rim. So tires are a little cheaper for me.

I wanted to change the look of the car. Did I get $1700 worth of performance out of a lighter set of wheels? No.

s***, I'm not sure why I bought them. (freak)

lol...i think a lot of us wonder wtf we spend our money on when we finally have some time to sit down and think about what we just bought...^^;

this is why i'm all about the stealth 16" FD rims look...i'm about to pop a cobb stage 2 suspension on here, so methinks it's gonna be COBBLE COBBLE! (alright)

Mine are the recommended 7.5" x 48mm. I'm not sure I'd go more either way here. The good thing is that for $100 you can solve the problem w/out worry. :)

haha...are you talkin about fender rolling? ^^; i never liked the idea, actually, so i stay away from it like the plague! (eek2)

i was trying to decide between 225/50/16 and 245/50/16, and i just couldn't do the fender rolling necessary for 245s, so i'm goin 225 all the way! (alright)

Yup. You cannot tell it's been done unless you notice the angle of the lip under the fender. Gotta have a reputable shop do it though. I figured I'd rather have the fender rolled then have more of my tire ripped off and the under side of the fender further mangled. 225s should not be a problem...

if it were me, I'd wait until you need new tires, then find a package deal and sell your stockers

you may even come out ahead if you do it right (compared to buying new tires)

by fender rolling it would it look like the 350z's back fender?

The only visual indicator is if you look under the fender. Instead of it running straight out above the tire, it is bent up somewhat. This keeps the tire from "grabbing" the fender. You would probably never notice it if you did not look for it.
