Are 1997 Miata L & R Seat Backs Interchangeable?

I have a 1997 Miata that has a large hole in the side bolster of the driver's seat back. I noticed that used passenger seats are readily available, but not the driver's seat. Is it possible to install a passenger side seat back on the driver's side?

Now that is a Very good question! My drivers seat is shot as well in my 97 and it is being held together with black duct tape! I have purchased new uhpolstery for both of the seats but cannot afford to have them installed just yet. In the mean time I have pulled a dark colored t-shirt over them to keep the unsightly wear from view. That does a good job aesthetically but nothing to solve the issue. Several months ago I purchased off of CL some mid-ninties seats. Alas they didn't fit because the 97 has a seat belt bracket unlike previous years. Luckily I was able to sell them the next day to a fellow with a 1991 and they fit perfectly! Before you start any removal, double-check both sides of each seat to make sure they are the same. No sense in pulling them out like I did just find out later that they don't match up. Let us all know how this works out because most of us with the NA's have similar issues with our drivers seats.
