apparently our dog is out of control

so i left early this morning to take my AP test. when its over, i got a voice mail form my mom saying i have to go back to our house and get our dog in because she running aroudn all over the neighborhood. so, i get home, go downstairs, look out on the porch, and our dog is sleeping inside of our locked fence area. so then i called my mom to tell her that she was just asleep.

anyways, i go run some errands and i see an accident. a pretty bad one. i look at the cars and see that it could be one of my classmates in the accident. the car was the same, i'm pretty sure she was going to chik fil a after the test, but idk. the car is totaled, the whole left side is just crushed. and on top of that, you guys know Paul, w/ the white 328, well he got in an accident the other day too, got rear-ended, i don't know if his car is totaled or not, it needs new rear everything, he was hit at like 30-35 mph. he's alright though. if it isn't totaled, you'll be seeing him at the auto-x tomorrow.

anyways. so i get back home and check the messages on our phone. the lady called like 5 times in 10 minutes. she's never met our dog, yet she know her name. she said that she was showing her teeth, and chasing her. and now she's pacing her yard. she says she is too afraid to go to her car. and btw, every single person on our street except us parks their cars in their garages. then, she called again saying that she is calling animal control and that she is sorry. she wanted us to call her back immediately. none of us were home. so she waits 5 minutes and says she is calling animal control, wtf. and, on top of that, i don't even know who the lady is, i couldn't understand her, and she didn't leave a number, so how are we supposed to call? and when i was driving through our neighborhood, i saw a dog that always gets loose, at least 2 times a week wandering around.

so, idk

so that was my day

That sucks balls. Apparently people have been complaining that our dog scares them. He is litterally the most harmless dog ever. He sits outside under a bush all day and sleeps. Not to mention we have one of those invisible fences (there is a sign next to our mailbox so people know about it and dont call animal control) so he cant get out. Suburban neigbors ftl.

it was our dog, animal control put her back on the porch

and that lady went way too far. our dog was not showing her teeth and charging at her, but she was barking at her, which dogs do, and trying to play with her. i asked my sister (who rode the bus) and saw it, and she said that she was simply trying to play with her, like she does with our ot0her dog. she runs back and forth barking, not showing her teeth and growling. and we thought this lady was actually nice. o well guess she's just like all the other ladies in this area-b****y

That sucks...glad animal control didn't take your pup in! How does she get out of the yard?

one time she jumped over the like 4 foot concrete wall, but mostly just the latch isnt all the way shut

I think people forget that dogs bark to communicate. and aren't alway trying to kill someone when doing so.

ok. bump for more updates:

the animal control people came today. we have to go to court, to like testify she has had rabies shots and what-not. and, apparently the animal control officer DIDN'T put her back in the porch. so, the only way she could have gotten in their is jump over the railing back in, which is why we are confused. and on the notice, it said that she was being aggressive, yet they didn't check off "vicious animal" on the ticket. they just checked off loose dog. yet, this one dog was out running around, going through trash (it was trash day) when i got home after taking the test, just like an our after the animal control officer left. and so we're just really confused

Do you think they even got the right dog? Or did they get her tag information off her tags?

I guess that leash laws don't apply? In most states, there are leash laws that the owner must maintain control and have their dogs secured. Whether a dog is vicious or not, it does not matter. BTW, you have admitted that your dog has done this before and has the ability to jump over fences, so you failed to maintain control over your dog.

As dog owner and breeder, I am one that usually sides with the owners, but not in this case. To have an animal running through the neighborhood, causing a nuisance is being very responsible and who is to say the dog wasn't not being aggressive to the lady?

You'd be surprised what a cornered or a scared dog will do. I have a feeling that you will be fined for failure to control or whatever verbiage that the courts use in your jurisdiction. You's be surprised what a little obedience training will do for your dog, as all my dogs have been trained and have never left our yard, even if a gate is open.

They can be walked without a lead, if told to stay, they stay until they have been given a released command or a hand signal. Good luck to you, but try to find a obedience class for you and your dog, it will be a lot cheaper in the long run, than going to court or possibly losing your dog.

The lady took it too far. She was just simply barking at her, and trying to play with her, like she does with our other dog. Thats what my sister said. and there was also some miscommunication between my sister and the lady. My sister responded with yes when asked if my dog was going to bite her, but my sister thought she said can i go in my house now, because she was afraid.

There is a leash law, but this is the first time in like 3 months she has gotten out. Every other time, she just sits in the driveway and waits for me to come home. It's not like she's always getting out. However, this one dog on our street gets out about 2 or 3 times a week. My dog is an extremely submissive dog. anytime a stranger or friend comes to our house, she kneels down and starts peeing. She's only 18 months old and sometimes, puppies still just want to play, and she should know that, seeing as she has 2 dogs already.

My fourth dog sounds like your dog. I got her from a friend that couldn't keep her inside her yard. Sidnee can jump a 4 ft. fence and that's what they had. One neighbor said she was very vicious. I took the dog from my friend and I can tell you she is certainly not vicious. I think she may have been trying to play with the lady. All in all my friend got out of having to pay $500 in court fees and I got a wonderful little girl.
I know sometimes people don't want their dogs inside but you can use a kennel for during the day.
Keep her inside = problem solved

What breed of dog do you have? I'm assuming they didn't check that one box because maybe they weren't there to see the dog "acting aggressive" toward the lady. Some people don't have anything else to do..
